Gal Sone special sets TV ratings record

TV8Ch reports that Gal Sone’s appearance on “kinsuma” last Friday received a 22.8% audience share. A 2ch commenter believes this is an all time record for a Japanese competitive eating program, breaking the mark of 22.7% set by Food Battle Club 2 in 2001. The program was not a contest; Gal Sone underwent a through examination to determine what enables her to eat so much and stay thin.

22.8% 21:00 – 22: Masahiro’s 48 TBS Nakai [kinsuma]! Disturbance ten thousand height special!!
Gal 曽 root celebration great success!!!!
Power of the audience rating queen was exhibited, that that much thing of the girl alone probably will be elucidated, seriously scientifically the program which is said, overwhelms other things, fearfully the [ru] should!! Mystery of the flesh of the gal 曽 root exceeded the Egypt mystery!!!!

KeepMeCurrent.com Maine burrito report

KeepMeCurrent.com has a report on Saturday’s burrito eating contest. The article says that IFOCE point standings are still being maintained:

For every event in which competitors place, they receive a certain amount of points. The 50 competitors with the most points are considered “ranked” eaters.

The competition to get to the top can be fierce, but eater Pete “Pretty Boy” Davekos, ranked 29th, said there isn’t a cutthroat mentality that often comes with other professional sports. “For 12 minutes we’re competitors, but for the rest of the time we’re good buddies,” said Davekos. “It’s a good solid rivalry.”

Sean “The Vaccuum” Kirby, who flew in from California for the competition, said one of the biggest misconceptions about competitive eating is that professional eaters don’t take care of their bodies.

“Lots of people think we do this and then go throw up,” Kirby said. “But it’s not the case. We train for the event. We know our bodies, we know what they can take. I’m 42 years old. I’m not going to do anything that’s going to endanger my health.”
