Paul Barlow has decided not to compete. Larell Marie will take his place.

Quite obvious that Oj rifkin refuses to bury the hatchet after seiiken posted much earlier in the day that larell was a .late confirm for biloxi. Still managed to find another source other. than bits and pieces or maybe Oj rifkin is George Shea

hey, completely off subject. I was looking at the Rabbit’s 2010 contests and man he really, really tried to get into nathan’s and just kept on coming short, i feel bad for the guy. i think he went to like 3 or 4 qualifiers 🙁 maybe next year

Let’s have a little logic here, perhaps a lot. If this site provides play by play, Seiken provides commentary. Therefore, if you want the best information about who is competing where, go directly to the source which in this case is MLE. Larell could certainly post here herself as well which she did. Seiken made no conditions for cleaning up his website and taking out references and unpleasantries about this website. Let’s not encourage him to not follow through with his promise by posting such silliness. Did you not notice that Brian Seiken is part of the current poll along with many other people suggested to this website.

I notice a lot of people traveling outside of their regions to attend west coast Nathan’s qualifiers. Is this usually the case, and does this mean the location of Nathan’s qualifiers are not evenly distributed throughout the country or that one region has better eaters?

duh stephanie, of course they are going to have more nathan’s qualifiers on the east coast and closer to NYC just for the fact that most of the top eaters are located in the north east region

There’s a limited number of qualifiers anyway. It puts a squeeze on west coast eaters for sure, who have limited spots and sometimes have to share them with out-of-towners anyway.

My comment above should have stated “even distributed throughout the country per capita”. IOW, does the east/east coast need to hold more qualifiers than they are now, since people seem to be traveling a long way to participate in the west coast qualifiers?

I had some good $$$ reasons for not going…however, I hated making that decision. The contest is fun, but a weekend fun of crazy eaters hanging out together…..priceless!! Have fun, everyone – hope it is warmer than last year’s 17 degrees!!

If qualifiers are to be redistributed, more should be placed in the center of the country. There was only one qualifier last year (Windstar Casino in Oklahoma) between Atlanta & Phoenix.

There is no science to it, basically Nathans decides how many spots they will give for the finals and decide where to have the qualies. if they wanted all qualies in the same state they would… it just happened to work out that way last year and every year after that…

if I had to take a guess, I think there will be less on the west coast this year then last year, I’m sure Vegas will still be there as will Phoenix. San Jose maybe, Escondido most likely out, that was a complete mess from the scandal with CLC and the Mall store owners being assholes complaining about the noise.

Strange, in 2009 there were four qualifiers in the central states and three in the western states:

    http://eatfeats.com/2009-nathans-qualifier-schedule-out.html

    Kansas City, MO
    Minneapolis, MN
    Billoxi, MS
    Denver, CO

    Las Vegas, NV
    San Francisco, CA
    Tempe, AZ

But none were in the central states for 2010

If Nathan’s truly wants to be the American hot dog, they need to do a better job with their qualifier locations.
