Great being in Tempe yesterday, Erik and Damon you guys were great. I wish I had more time to spend with you guys but I had to get back to Vegas to work the fight. Rich, great seeing you again, and once again you did a great job running the contest.

I wasn’t pissed when the weather girl gave us her dogs. But it did throw me off and perhaps led to my choking… Either way, I learned my lesson with these natural casing dogs — smaller, more frequent bites to prevent an embarrassing obituary.

    Erik,

My hats off to you, putting down 30.5 HDB’s the day after ribs and an early flight is a great feat! I still have no idea how some of you guys can compete back to back days as I’m totally out of commission for at least 2 days post contest. I was hoping I’d have a good day and catch you a bad one. That plan didn’t work out very well. lol

    Michelle,

You did great on Saturday, Go get em on the 4th! Your style of tearing the HDB’s into little peaces reminds me of how a little mouse eats, which is fitting for you, because you’re kinda mousy (meant in a good way), great progress in a year! oh and your desired beverage proved Ron Burgundy wrong when he said “Milk was a terrible choice”…

Hopefully I didn’t come off bitter (although digressing and not at least matching my best number really sucks) by not sticking around and wishing you guys luck there, but I was literally trying to fit 35hrs into a 24hr day. Tempe was a last minute sign up and I had to pull some strings to even make it happen, when the Nathan’s schedule first came out it seemed like all the dates conflicted with other obligations, were too far (expensive travel) or far superior eaters to my talent level would be there, so if Coney were to be in the cards for me this year Tempe was my only shot and somewhat of a long shot at that but, I know if I didn’t at least go to one I’d beat myself up about not trying.

Best off luck to all you guys and gals in NY, wish I was there to enjoy the experience!

    MLE eater,

Thanks for the kind words, they go a long way and are much appreciated.

    anon 2:22,

Not that I owe you an explanation but, maybe I should have clarified “pulling strings”… I had a spot for Tempe a long time ago (it was the only qualifier I signed up for) but due to family matters I pretty much had to pull out. Luckily I’m blessed with a family that is understanding and told me to go do what I love. My cousin was getting married at 5pm which means I missed the ceremony, I missed my kids first soccer game of the season, which btw is the only game I’ve ever missed of his, I had expensive tickets to a concert to go to later that same evening and would have been castrated by my better half if we missed it. I’m sorry if you feel you don’t get special treatment from MLE, because I know I sure don’t… Good luck with whichever qualifier they did let you into though! 🙂

after re-reading I miss typed… last minute “decession” not “sign up”… my mistake. Maybe I should proof read but I’m to lazy for that!

Thanks Omen! I can’t even imagine how exhausted you were after the day was over. I hope you change your mind and hit one of the last few qualifiers before Coney. It’d be awesome to have you there. Like MLE eater said, your positive attitude is nice to have around. You’re a definite asset to the sport.
