Pat’s win was a given. It’s hard to be humble when you’re Notorious B.O.B.

After those preposterous remarks about the hygiene of some major league eaters, i bet that the majority of the competitors in king cake must have taken 3 showers and brushed their teeth twenty times before they got on stage just in case

It’s a record! No wait, it’s a record! Wait, last year was the world record at 14 but 12 is new the world record this year. Every record is a new record this year!

11:40, Kinda had the same thoughts.

MLE announced it on Twitter as a new world record but I think they might have made a mistake. Deep Dish’s comments on those vids also support this.

The weights of the cakes also don’t make sense as on the MLE website it says they are half-pound cakes. So, in 2010 his cake eating was 14 x 0.5 lb = 7lb yet his MLE bib sheet says he ate 10.5 lbs at that event, meaning they must weigh 0.75 lbs.

Similarly, if he ate 12 0.5 lb cakes yesterday then that works out at 6 lb consumed, which doesn’t really seem like a new World record if he ate 10.5 lbs three years ago. Furthermore, even if the cakes yesterday were 0.75 lb that only works out at as a total of 9 lb.

Are the cakes really 0.5 lbs each or are they 0.75 lb? Do they weigh more these days? Who knows. Not us, although they look a lot bigger and denser than 0.5 lb to us.

If they now weigh 1 lb then, yes, it’s a new record. If they weigh the same as they always did then surely it’s not.

    Answers on a postcard, please.

Still, top eating from the Deep Dish, new world record or not.

Perhaps Major League Eating will clear this up. Any legitimate sports organization would do so. Let’s see.

Janus would hardly get shown up by Bob and Sonya. He finishes ahead of them all the time.

From what I understand the cakes are approximately 9oz each

12:59 – If you really want to see some fancy math take look into past Hooters contest. It’s… well, truly a hoot! I hope they do it again this year… crazy stuff. I mean Wing Bowl like whacky at times.

1:05 – Thats a good one! Don’t hold your breath. When MLE corrects a measure of any kind the correction often is intentionally vague and convoluted resulting in more questions about the contest. It seems MLE applies very little science to its methods of record keeping and same goes for total amounts of a consumed product at a contest.

It is so refreshing to know that R&H will be providing coverage of major league eating events and we can enjoy the articles without being distracted by mean spirited comments on the right hand side by a small amount of rotten apples . Please dont take any more long hiatus guys

Good job R&H. I thank you too. 757 has always behaved like one of those rotten apples. Has anythng changed? I hope so, but the way it usually is is that he complains abour the very qualities he exhibits. He speak with fork in tongue.
