    great post!

I’m pulling for the Rabbit, only because I have a biased opnion… But it really is hard to say either way, they are both very good.

    wait…..ROY???? its 2011 not 2010.

By looking at the statitistics, I say the ROY goes to the A-Train. They are both very good eaters but based off of the head to head results and Aaron’s average Nathan’s perormance of 27.25 HDB’s, you have to give it to him. Plus shouldn’t Adrian have been considered a rookie last year?

I always thought the season ran from Nathan’s to Nathan’s? I guess it is up to MLE. Do you think Steph Torres will be considered?

The IFOCE rookie period seems to last at least 18 months, maybe 24. Juliet Lee won the 2008 rookie of the year after competing in the 2007 Nathan’s finals.

Stephanie Torres would probably be the female rookie of the year if that was awarded.

For Juliet it is ongoing. I think she’ll take it again this year.

OJ, I really don’t think Stephanie Torres would win Female Rookie of the Year for the simple reason that she has competed only once in an IFOCE-sanctioned event. I think the IFOCE would reward the loyalty and effort of Larell, who has traveled many more times at her own expense and compiled a more complete albeit slightly less impressive body of work. They know they can count on Larell, whereas they have no idea what kind of person Stephanie is, and I think that would be enough to tip the the scales in Larell’s favor. You can say you think Stephanie would “probably” win the award, but I say you’re “probably” very wrong.

This male female BS needs to stop. Competitive eaters are competitive eaters. What next? Weight classes?

I totally agree with A-12:57. Eater loyalty and attitude have to count. If they give a women’s ROY it should be Larell hands-down.

Stephanie has yet to earn her stripes.

Though I’d opt for Aaron, you couldn’t go wrong picking either one for ROY.

To put things in perspective, I think both Adrian and Aaron are better in 2011 than was ROY Dale Boone was in 2002 (or was it 2003).

For that matter, they’re both better than Dale is right now!

Larellmarie, a no brainer for ROY! Her numbers are increasing, her attitude, presentation, everything about her is what all eaters should aspire to. What does ROY mean exactly? If it is just about who had the highest number of Nathans out of the gate or in qualifiers, the choice would be easy and meaningless. I would like to see what contests/qualifiers Stephanie Torres has done for IFOCE and her results. Earning your stripes is only part of the equation, earning them well would have to be looked at.

Agreed anon1257 – Larell has been to plenty of contest, been active with the sport, and has shown noticeable improvement. There is nothing to go based off of when you look at what I have done. It’s Rookie of the YEAR, not a couple months, not one contest.. How do you determine anything with that? Just like I told them about rankings, I don’t deserve to be ranked when you have all these people who have been highly active with the MLE, making improvements, going to contest on their own expense, putting out numbers, where I have only done a qualifier.. I don’t think it’s fair to put me up on the rankings until/if I earn a spot. And, you’re right, they don’t know what kind of person I am, not many on the circuit do, only those who have met me or have taken time to really talk to me.

Rhonda, Stallion, Steph – thank you so very much. Although I know there’s no male/female ROY, it just made me smile to “hear” ya’ll “nominating” me! Awesome way to start the day 🙂 Steph – since, I “know” you; got NOTHING but luv for ya, girl!!!!
