I have to say that I found this to be one of the funniest and most clever stunts pulled at an IFOCE event. I understand if OJ feels duped, but it was all in good fun. I support Tim totally in this – he’s the Andy Kaufman of competitive eating.

I fell for the gag hook, line and sinker. I don’t think there was anything malicious about it, and it was a hoot.

Actually I think it would be good for the CE if it turns out that Janus is gay or is a cross dresser. It’s kind of surprising that this is the direction that CE is going in. Then again there are three formats to excel, which can be as an eater, as someone who markets the sport, or as an oddball. I think all three will attract attention. Tim’s just coming out of the closet, or is it pantry.

I’m in the Liz/Steakbellie camp. Harmless fun. Sure, I was excited at the idea of having a new female phenom enter the sport, but I chuckled when the truth came out.

And Deep Throat nailed it. This is a sport that makes it’s living on embracing perrsonalities…personalities that are often exaggerated or completely different from who the eater’s are in real life.

I think some of us wanted it to be true really badly because we love competitive eating and we know how cool it would be if Helen were real. Those that wanted it really REALLY badly maybe felt a little angry or deceived. It’s understandable. Sorta like when some of us found out about Santa Claus.

Henry the Third you have got to give up at least a couple examples of competitive eaters who have fabricated their totals? I mean if the official results are always release by the IFOCE or another sanctioning body how can someone just say they ate a certain amount when there actual total is listed officially? The only occurrence of this I can think of that could be related to your accusations is what one competitive eater complained about at this years Nathan’s involving their total hot dogs recorded. Is this one event you are referring to?

That’s just the beginning. OJ does more for this sport in keeping data and has a right to do as he / she wishes. OJ is not being mean, but feels very used and made a fool of. I’m sure that cool heads will prevail in the end and OJ will do the right thing for the sport, whatever that is. Good on you OJ!
