On last night's Jimmy Kimmel Live, Adam Carolla criticized Nathan's Famous hot dog eating contest and proposed that every 10th hot dog in the contest should be a chili cheese frankfurter which had to be eaten conventionally.

Ken Hoffman's column about judging the 2018 Nathan's finals closes with a paragraph about Sony "The Black Widow" Thomas, who was reportedly caught reversing into her hands by an unnamed MLE official and disqualified. (Did anyone catch this? I haven't seen any pictures or video of it).
The broadcast of the Nathan's Finals on ESPN2 was the highest rated cable program for July 4 despite a ratings decline from .45 in 2017 to .43 this year.

ESPNMediaZone reports that Adam Amin will replace Indy 500 annoucer Paul Page as the play-by-play voice for the coverage of the contest on ESPN2 at noon Eastern. Paul Page most famous line covering Nathan's was probably calling the champion "Joey Chitwood".

OddsShark reports that Bovada is taking bets on whether PETA wil disrupt the Nathan's finals.
The ESPN schedule for July 4 is out. The men's Nathan's finals will be televised live on ESPN2 at noon Eastern and rerun three times later that day. The women's contest has yet to be added to the ESPN3 streaming schedule. (ESPN2 will broadcast First Take at 10am when the female division takes place.)

LocalSyr.com reports Geoff Esper won the men’s division with 45 hot dogs. From the picture, it appears there was at least one female entrant, so “uncontested” failed to defend the women’s division.

Geoff Esper is the favorite in the men’s division. We will see if “Uncontested” defends her Taste of Syracuse qualifier title in the women’s division.
