Nathan’s on ESPN extended to 2017

A press release announces that the Nathan’s finals will be televised on ESPN through 2017. The 2012 broadcast will begin at 3pm eastern and last one hour and coverage of the women’s division will be included. Paul “Joey Chitwood” Page will continue as announcer.

update 2:49 Katelyn D reports that Tim “Janice” won with 45 hot dogs. Larell Marie appeared to be the only woman, so she is probably the female winner.

Tim “Eater X” Janus and Larell Marie have been announced as expected entrants in Saturday’s Nathan’s qualifier in Atlantic City. Marcos Owens has also said he will compete. update Badlands Booker, Steakbellie and Yasir Salem are also expected.

Meredith “Deep Fried Diva” Boxberger has produced a video about her first (and also last) place finish in the women’s division at the Nathan’s qualifier in Garden City, MI two weeks ago. update May 8 The Barrie Examiner has an article about Meredith, who was a figure skater for 15 years and now owns a Little Caeasar’s Pizza franchise. She will be competing in the Hooter’s qualifier in Detroit Saturday.

“Cardboard Shell” is using her attempt to eat 25 hot dogs in the Nathan’s Tempe, AZ qualifier (Sonya Thomas and Juliet Lee are the only women to eat more in a qualifier) to raise money for Sudanese schools and public healthcare.
