I am staying away from here from now on. ungreat Gavonne being allowed to comment sends the message that I am not welcome.

And who are you? While I do not like Gavonnes comments, the more recent ones are milder and offensive to some, not politically correct, but he is not making libelous statements or threatening people in his latest. It is OJ who moderates this site who decides what gets posted or not. Of course, whether you read or not or comment or not is always your choice, each person’s choice. I hate the attacks some people make on each other and also the drivel, the really dumb two year old tough guy tantrums, but that is my opinion. I welcome all choices when it comes to sexuality as long as everyone is treated with equal respect. Sometimes people do use an an excuse for their misdeeds/libelous statement and/or rascist comments or homophobic comments, oh, I was just joking. No, that does not fly, definitely not when said by Gavonne and one other likely suspect. If the shoe fits, wear it.

So what you are saying is that its ok to curse someone’s dead parents while all is forgiven as long as his future comments are on the mild side. No go. That’s like giving a free pass to a terrorist. People never forget hate reared towards ones religion and most important family members. Words hurt more than fists

Yeah, pretty much that’s it. Guess you’ve never heard “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”

Resist the urge to go out riot, kill and pillage because someone said something stupid that you don’t like (or go to Pakistan – it’s apparently okay there). There are some so-called adults on here that have really, really thin skins (not mentioning any names) and can’t seem to figure out that none of the comments here are posted by rocket scientists. Some posters are just looking to be provocative, inflammatory, “funny” or just plain mean. This isn’t anything new, and it’s also why none of the top eaters pay any attention to anything written here. It simply doesn’t matter. It’s just a few stupid people trying to annoy other stupid people.

What’s the lesson? Don’t be stupid.

Ok, my rant… I believe in freedom of speech. I believe people can say whatever they want as long as it doesn’t infringe on any of my rights. The Westboro Baptist church can say what they want, I don’t have to listen or agree. I don’t think Sarah Silverman is funny but she doesn’t have to shut up on my account. No one is forcing me to come to this site, I can choose to not visit just like I can choose what I watch or listen to. We don’t have a right to not be offended. I’m a big boy and it doesn’t bother me if someone wants to be a dick at my expense. Nothing will bring my mom back and right now not even the best medicine can fix my dad but insults can’t make his health worse. At least in this instance, it’s not anonymous and I know who I can take off my Christmas card list. I thank those of you that care but hating/censoring others for their words, insensitive or not, won’t change my situation.

You can hurt massive amounts of people in a short period of time with words . Cant hurt the same amt in a short period of time with your fists

, i can honestly say OJ does a great job of not promoting exhibitionists or self centered attention seekers that thrive on approval from fake friends that kiss their behind on FB or other blogs. There are less than a handful i am referring to and one in particular is probably not old enough to vote. Nothing wrong with promoting yourself on occasion but when it boils down to me me me and flaunting it as a form of arrogance, it becomes very annoying. What makes it even worse is when the “YES” people come on and agree with their buddy just to be cool no matter how stupid and arrogant their good bud might come off as. Its more like “i got your back” even though deep down inside that individual probably thinks the heckler is prob right on with his comment.

1041am you sound like a real ass. How can anyone take you.serious when someone created a post cursing someone dead mom and then.you turn around and placate the situation by saying his comments have toned down somewhat. What he said is unforgivable. He should never be forgiven for that post and he should be banned from.this site

I love the way some of these die hard competitive eating fans come on here and complain about how the negative and hurtful comments about others are destroying the integrity of the sport and this very blog. But the fact of the matter is that you sound just as retarded ranting and raving about how many hot dogs Stephanie Torres can eat in comparison to Meredith Boxburger. Who the hell cares? You are debating over utter nonsense. Who can stuff a hot dog in their mouth faster than the other one. Think about the logic of that statement and then go back and read the libelous statement about another eater from someone like a Gavonne. What it boils down to is not much of a difference

I stand corrected. I did not read his post, refused to do so. I think it was terrible of someone else to make a link to his post as well, but that is what so called freedom is all about. But if he should be banned from this site, then so should some others in my opinion.

OJ is in charge, and I am sure that he spends too much of his valuable time deciding what should and should not get posted. This should not be his job, we should be monitoring ourselves. That being said, I was very glad to read what Sean Gordon wrote. My heart goes out to him yet that is not enough nor does it change the horrid circumstances that life, in a second, brought to him and his family. He is clearly a very mature person and further to come on here and acknowledge that he does read here and to write what he did shows such excellent character. More should model themselves after Sean. He is, as a person and an eater, the very best of competitive eating. I am thrilled that he was chosen to make the trip overseas and that his family supported him from back home.

Those who write from hate and jealousy and ignorance are a blight on this blog but again, we can all choose to read here or not. That is the ultimate choice. My very best to Sean and to all of the upstanding eaters who do not post here and do not even read here, that too is their choice.

If you look for something negative, you will find it. If you want to hate, you will in the end actually only harm your own happiness or contentment. The targets of your hate are undeserving, like innocent bystanders, but this is a small community. There are sometimes not enough Sean Gordon’s and Larell Marie’s and too many who contribute nothing but hateful garbage.
