Metromix has a picture of Sara Ramon, who won the contest held at Cupcake Station in Birmingham, Michigan last Friday by eating 18 cupcakes in 8 minutes.

    From the Cupcake Station newsletter:

    “For the Cupcake Eating Contest on Friday, August 14th, 19 competitors, ranging in age from 16 to 59, took the challenge. The winner, by a cupcake-slide, was Sara Ramon, 20, from White Lake, who managed to eat 18 Vanilla Cupcakes with Butter Cream Frosting in 8 minutes. (The previous record was 14 in 2007). Sara, who is an MP in the US Army Reserve, approached the task like a military tactician, and consumed about 1 cupcake every 26 seconds.

    Second place went to Lindsay Moore, 24, of Sylvan Lake with 16 Cupcakes; and Third Place belonged to Craig Reed, 27, of Ferndale, with 14 consumed. All contestants won prizes of cupcakes and cash!”

    I don’t mean to be mean. This is such a cute story. But could you imagine if someone like Joey Chestnut went to one of these events … ?

    I think it would go something like this …

And, First Place went to Joey Chestnut, 26, with 254 consumed. All contestants won prizes of cupcakes and cash!. On a side note, after the event Chestnut actually ate the other contestants.”

    Those cupcakes were the size of kittens, I don’t think Joey would’ve been anywhere near the top 3.

    I can only imagine what it would be like if you dunked the cupcakes then drank them down. Sounds like fun oddly enough.
