Wow!!! That was filthy. Looked to me like Koby hardly broke a sweat. I was hoping the U.S. eaters would surpass him this year, but after seeing that, I have my doubts.

Savage, you’re right. Joey looked totally spent. Koby looked fresh. Reminded me of Ali and Frazier. Overall the eaters in the US, as a whole, dominate competitive eating. As I’ve said many times, Koby is simply in a class by himself, which TAKES NOTHING from how great Joey, Pat, Sonya, Bob, X, Chip, Rich, and others are.
I honestly believe Koby will retire undefeated (to an American). And those days of him losing to Shirota (Food Battle Club) are LONG gone too. As a matter of fact, I think most all of the top 10 US eaters could now topple Shirota in a contest of most any length (5 - 12 minutes).
Outside of Koby, there is no comparison between eaters in the states and eaters anywhere else in the world.

I’m not sure it’s possible to beat him. It’s unreal the way his numbers increased the closer Joey got to him…Joey would be ahead a couple, then WHAM - Koby would catch up. It was truly a sight to behold. But truthfully - I don’t think there’s anyone who can beat him right now.
I’d love to be proven wrong, though. Especially by an American.

Takeru Kobayashi is in a league of his own, but I believe that Joey Chestnut is improving day by day. He should be watched carefully.

Is Kobayashi really in a league of his own. Both Pat and Joey have only been eating for 2-3 years. In that time they both crushed Kobayashi’s previous record that took 7 years to break himself. I don’t know if Kobayashi s going to be beaten by an American before he retires, but his Krystal and Nathan’s record won’t hold long after he’s gone. Joey and Pat are increasing their numbers way faster than Kobayashi. Kobayashi is the greatest! But nothing lasts forever. If he puts off his retirement much longer he will surely start seeing these two new eaters pass him. And that’s not to take away from him…it’s just to point out that the American eaters have stepped up their level competition.
