Food and Wine has a blog entry about restaurant eating challenges with quotes from Randy Santel and Ryan "Max Carnage" Rodacker of the Big Eaters Club. Randy Santel predicts he will have 600 successes by 2020 which he claims will be an unbreakable record.

Randy only thinks he has the most restaurant food challenge wins.

“She Who Verifies” actually has more wins, including a 1/2 of a win!

he will weight 600 pounds by 2020. He’s halfwat there

who cares about him? He is from midwest and has an arrogant way about him when he does challenges. He only posts his winning attempts and not his losing ones

I know someone with 300 wins at BWW alone. All verified!

Theres nothing wrong with the Midwest.

Randy has posted about his losses and isn’t arrogant at all.

    Baby Moron:

You don’t think this statement is arrogant:

“By 2020, I’ll have 600 wins in 30 countries and 50 states. I can die knowing no one will come close to my record.”

And Randy has not posted videos of all his losses, especially in the early days. He avoids challenges that he does not feel he can win.

There’s nothing wrong with not doing challenges he knows he cannot win.

He posted an icecream video that he lost, for example.

Why would Randy do a 20+ pound rice and curry challenge when he knows he couldn’t defeat it?

It might be a little arrogant.

However, he has a comfortable lead on the person that has the 2nd most food challenge wins (plus more country wins too.)

    May 27, 2017 @ 4:08 pm

It’s actually his opening comment before the challenge thats the arrogant part. He describes the food he’s about to eat knowing full well that the challenge was a success or he wouldn’t post the video on YT

“There’s nothing wrong with not doing challenges he knows he cannot win. ”

That may be true, but it is a little deceptive to claim all these wins knowing he would have many more losses if he tried them all. It’s not an accurate assessment. As opposed to the mantis, who takes on all challenges.

Many thought Michael Jordan’s playoff scoring record would never be broken, until it was the other day by Lebron James.
Many thought Roger Maris’ his homerun record would never be broken, until it was by Mark McGwire.

Maris didn’t use steroids. Pure, raw talent.

“The Verifying Highness” has food challenge wins in 100+ countries, and also several wins in outer space. Rumor has it, an individual reported an occurrence on an uninhabited island in the Pacific. All of the coconuts were devoured in a ten-minute period.

Randy admitted he lost it. Then went back at another date and defeated it.

    You’re just jealous of him.

Randy downplays his losses. In fact he doesn’t even consider them losses. This is what he said:

“A food challenge loss is eliminated once you finally beat the challenge. I’ve lost a challenge 4 times before actually winning on the 5th attempt, but then those 4 losses went away because it then went into the “win column.” I attempted that referenced ice cream challenge the night before as my 2nd challenge of the day, after a 5lb burger. I was unable to fit the last 2 scoops, but then I went back the next day for lunch and defeated the challenge. Because of that, that first “loss” no longer matters and it’s just considered a win.”

It is right here: http://eatfeats.com/wbir-on-randy-santels-knoxville-attempts.html. Oh yes it is.

Randy explained why it switches from a loss to a win.

There aren’t established rules on what counts as a “restaurant food challenge win.”
Everyone has his/her own opinion on how they count their food challenge wins.

Some eaters even count 1/2 wins or challenges they’ve previously attempted at other locations and won.

Hey thanks OJ for the post!!

Here is a playlist of the “loss videos” on our channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n0itecmOaY&list=PLhfBlOTMeKKPu8nKl0pCvhTnoHZ8kgfzk

We don’t upload videos of losses that make the restaurant look bad. Outside factors were involved in the Belgium loss and the Mulligan’s loss, which is why the videos weren’t uploaded. Same with a few others.

I currently weigh 280lbs so technically I am less than halfway to 600. In 2020 when I become a registered dietitian, I will weigh between 240 and 260 pounds.

Please keep in mind that competitive eating and food challenges is decreasing, rather than increasing, and it has been this way for the past few years. Food challenges are going away each week and few are being developed, and its the same way with contests. Not only will reaching 600 wins be tougher for someone else, but you also must consider the motives involved. Why would somebody want to win 600 food challenges? To beat me? If so, that “on the surface” motive wouldn’t last. For the sake of competitive eating and food challenges? For fun? That is why so many people start and are excited when they first begin, but trail off when they realize how difficult and physically taxing the lifestyle is. There is a lot of work involved and very little “glory” to be achieved. A very low percentage of my motives for why I do what I do involve the actual sport of competitive eating, and it all involves the nutrition and weight management related things I will be doing when I retire in 2020.

To beat my 600+ a person would have to be self funded without a real job, have significant knowledge, skills, and discipline regarding nutrition and exercise (weight management), and it would take over 10 years to do it. It will take more too because there are fewer challenges available. Like 200 of the challenges I have beaten are now defunct, and I know it is the same for Molly, Ramsey, Naader, Stephanie, and everyone else who started years ago.

AND starting a revenue-generating YouTube channel is now much more difficult and competitive than it was back in 2010 when I began.

It is not arrogant to mention that I know I will win most of my challenges before even arriving at the restaurants. I fully believe in “Win Before You Begin.”

Anonymous 12:56 does not know as he is not involved in YT oink oink oink. stupid poster. Negative wannabe and fails in life. He cannot read correctly oink oink. competitive eaters are superstars oink oink. Randy is a superstar.

This is from randy’s mouth: http://eatfeats.com/randy-santel-gets-400th-eating-challenge-success.html

“How can it be sad for 2 people to have a job where they travel all over the place eating, drinking (networking), sightseeing, and meeting people? I spent 6 years sitting behind a desk working in the construction industry, and decided that wasn’t for me. Anything can be a career/job if you are good enough, distinct from others, and you 101% view it mentally as your career and not even 1% as just a hobby. When I quit construction on October 26, 2013, I deleted all my resumes and everything else involved with that past career so that I could focus solely on making all this stuff that I’m working on a career. There was no plan B or fall-back plan. Always keep in mind that the real money is not in eating, it is in the promotions/advertising/sponsorship/marketing side of things. MLE’s #1 eater makes more $$ via his YouTube channel than every single competitive eater in the world combined makes from winning actual eating contests (does not include appearance fees), and that includes the payouts from Nathan’s, Wing Bowl, and the other larger payout contests. And if it isn’t more since there are of course contests occurring that none of us ever hear about, the number is pretty darn close. How much a person can eat doesn’t matter 1/2 as much as how many people are willing to follow and watch that person eat. Until the competitive eating world fully grasps that concept, food challengers will continue doing challenges for free meals and t-shirts, and competitive eaters will continue doing contests to win barely enough money to cover the expenses it cost to get there.”

The last few sentences of oink oink oink comment is the only thing that makes sense . These dopey so called major league eaters who constantly finish out of the money traveling to compete in contests they will never make money competing in, should learn how to market themselves on YT or other sources of income so at least they could say they are getting something out of this competitive eating thing. Their excuse is they got the chance to high five Chestnut during the intro’s and got to hang out with super people. Maybe one of these days they will wake up and realize the Sheas Stonie Chestnut and less than a handful of others will make money engaging in this nonsense while the rest are the little munchkins from the wizard of oz getting a free meal
