Ken Hoffman has a column for the Houston Chronicle where he describes serving as Juliet Lee's judge in yesterday's Nathan's hot dog contest. He recorded her total as 23 hot dogs (after giving her credit for three "chipmunked" hot dogs), but her official total is listed as 27.

If they were going to inflate her numbers, why not throw 6 or so to Badlands too? The big man deserves 30 and could have done it but I have to think the heat got the best of him, as it did so many others.

What the heck do judges know? He was only there counting, and didn’t really see her finish off the last three, so maybe he missed her just throwing the other 4 on the ground or something.

Wow, so she should have come in 13th.

Even her Judge says Juliet Lee was cheating agian. She ate 20. Stuffed 3 in her mouth at the end. No idea if she ate them or spit them out afterwards. He gave her credit for 23. Then sounds like she claimed to eat many more (27)than she did. Did not another eater do that same recently or so I read here. Was she wearing Crazy Legs gloves?

“Kobayashi was watching the contest from the “friends and family” roped-off area (which makes me smell a publicity stunt).”

I’m pretty sure this is not the case. At any rate, going to jail for a publicity stunt?

So they have judges counting but apparently that doesn’t matter cuz if you don’t win you can just throw a number at the MC and they will take your word for it? Talk about a mickey mouse operation!

I see you missed the point to Boykin. They have judges counting the totals, Juliet’s total as counted by her judge was 23. So did she self report a number? Did somebody write down the wrong number? The point is, it should be corrected that way the people who ate more then her get paid the proper amount.

    Get it?

Once again, why bother competing in any contest with the top 15 in there? It used to be that a judges total was the amount the eater ate..Now just throw a number out there and it will stand. Cheating is the new standard for eaters .They know nothing will be done..Learn some tricks on how to hide your food.. Buy extra large gloves ,have big pockets, have your own cups…Cheating not water trainning is the new norm..Im practicing write now”

I did miss your point, sorry.

I had a judge so close to me at the Nathans event I thought he was going to give me five bucks for the free ride. I just dont want some dude breathing down my neck while I try and eat hot dogs. Sure I am not going to win but hell back off a bit.

You dont need judges if you can hide extra debris and then give your own totals. What the hell are these contests comming to?
