He has really come a long way since 2005. That year he was throwing out the first pitch at a major league baseball game at Shea Stadium. Now hes appearing at a class A baseball game competing against “neat eating” like competition. Has it gotten to the point where he is now beating up on competition they practically picked off the street?

Kobi leaving the MLE, then trashing MLE and Nathan’s, crashing a Nathan’s contest, embarrassing himself as independent beating up other indies, then joining Hoffman’s. Now, Salt Lake City Bees? Seriously, THE SALT LAKE CITY BEES? Worse sports related business decisions since Boston traded Babe Ruth to the Yankees. If Kobi’s manager ever comes up to you and asks to manage your career — RUN!

Since the Shredder has a Criff dog teashirt the sponsor can revive the contest and Kobe can go one on one with him on July 4th ironically Independence Day

agree 10:25 . Reminds me of that Temptations movie that aired on national tv some years ago. The lead singer couldnt accept the fact he was thrown out of the band so he took the low road and suddenly appeared on stage grabbing the mic from the guy that replaced him

He has no manager per se, he has someone who acts as his manager and is also likely now his girlfriend. Hope he is happy though.

Unless he spilled Lipton on that garment, it’s actually teeshirt. 🙂

Regarding Kobi, whether he is doing things beneath him or not, that does not change the fact that he remains the only competitive eating legend on the planet, and the only person in the world who can trade CE blows with Jaws on a consistent basis.

I cannot knock any person for doing something nice, with respect to fans of any sport at any level. As a matter of fact, I respect people the most when they go out of their way to do nice things for others.

I don’t like it when Koby, or anyone else, berates others to elevate one’s own status, but I don’t see that being done here.

Sometimes it’s not just about money, you know.

We all need to chip in and send Pat Bertoletti a plane ticket to Salt Lake City to put Kobayashi out of his misery. Almost like pulling the plug to let Kobi go out with some dignity. Rhonda, nobody is berating him. But it’s embarassing that a top eater could stoop so low. Also, for Kobi it is about the money. Competitive eating is his career. It’s why he’s here in the U.S. and what he lists as his source of income. That’s what so sad. He has to do these dog and pony shows or he has to go. There’s a lesson her though, never hire a manager that you can’t fire.

As great as Pat is, he’s not at Koby’s level. To put things in perspective, Matt Stonie is now at about where Pat is, or perhaps even better. Send Pat to SLC, and he would be the one in “misery” —- not Koby.

Rhonda — Not so quick. You know better than most, to keep yourself in top form you have to compete. Kobi’s been away from the table for quite sometime. And, the last time he ate against top eaters, was literally years ago. Look at Crif dogs, easier dogs and inside to boot. He really didn’t do Kobi in his prime standards. I think Pat would give Kobi quite a challenge. But, of course I was just jokingly arguing angles on the head of a pin. Unless Pat is reading this? Never know? But knowing Kobi’s manager/girlfriend one look at a Pat Bertoletti in the audience and I think they’d choose the guy sitting next to him for the qualifier. Unless of course the guy sitting next to him was Gravy Brown. Remember, Kobi leaving MLE had nothing to do with any contract. That was an excuse that he’d never be beat Joey again and his talent had declined. He proved that by actually signing a contract with Hofmann’s

I understand where you’re coming from SIAS, and that’s a valid thought.

For my money, if there is one person on this planet that can keep himself close to top form in CE, it’s Takeru Kobayashi. Whatever level of top form he needs to ascend to, he can achieve in about one meal.

I’ll admit, there’s some bias there. I just love Koby.
