HEY DR. BIGTIME,whats up man, since you are a doctor who works on the spine you are the perfect person to ask this question…what is the best 3 exercises for lower back problems??? i usually will do some navy seal streches for your back or good mournings when i wake up,but now im in the office sitting down all day and my back is all jacked up lately, and sometimes its so bad that just standing straight up hurts like hell…..im almost at the point to put on some anti-gravity boots and hang upside down and hold 100lb dumbells to try and stretch it out or maybe find a medieval back torture device, that could be useful, hehe anyway will greatly appreciate any of your expert advice, thanks,Have A Nice Day 🙂

DO NOT TAKE THIS AS MEDICAL ADVICE

I am better at cutting up a spine to fix it than to dole out physical therapy type advice, but I’d say the 3 best exercises you can do for your back are back extensions (do NOT hyperextend, only extend to neutral), ab crunches or any other type of abdominal exercises, and traction (ie inversion table, etc). It’s all about strengthening your core. Avoid running and other impact activities. Stretching you back is also good, but avoid excessive extension stretches.

You could also find out the specifics of the Mackenzie method for back PT, which a lot of my patients have had success with.
