Man vs. Food: Nation apparently cancelled

The 2012 schedule for the Travel Channel has been announced. Man vs. Food: Nation does not appear in the list of renewed shows. The apparent cancellation is not surprising after a Broadcasting & Cable article reported that a ratings decline of 15% for the entire channel could primarily be attributed to a drop in the popularity of Man vs. Food:Nation.

update Dec 2 The Travel Channel twitter had the following response to the non-listing: “this is just the first announcement of 2012- we’ve got more in the queue. Stay tuned!” An untelevised Charlotte episode has been recorded, so that statement does not mean that the Travel Channel has committed to a new season.

After conclusion of Wednesday’s episode, Adam Richman made what appears to be a farewell statement to his audience.

They need to do another man vs food with badlands!! He would crush nearly every eating challenge out there. Adams stomach is a wimp no wonder the show didnt last.

Most known eaters are too good. Mid ranked women like Maria or Larell M or Cardboard Shell would make really good prospects.

I’m not the biggest MVF fan ever, but it’s still a shame because there was a huge increase in local contests/challenges with that show being on the air. Hopefully that momentum will continue so I don’t get bored. Somebody needs to make a weekly show featuring real competitive eaters though – there’s an opening!

well Bizarre Foods isn’t on that page under the renewed shows, but it’s still going to be on the air, except it’s Bizarre Foods America. So just because MVF isn’t in that announcement as a renewed show doesn’t mean it’s cancelled. I know MVF’s ratings dropped, but Man v. Food was one of the most popular shows on Travel Channel. Does anyone know how its ratings compared overall to the other shows on TC’s other shows?
