Facts are facts how can she or any other female eater that can eat more than 10 or 11 hot dogs lose a qualifier? Why cant the men have it that easy. I say open up 20 more qualifiers for mid ranked eaters so they dont have to face off against adrian morgan denmark janus and the other 25 plus dog eaters.

@itsamansworld- so what your saying is MLE should hold your hand and make it eaiser for you to win. Why don’t you try practicing and stop bitching how hard it is to qualify. People don’t want to see mid ranked eaters. They want to see the best.

Is there ever going to be a competitive eating hall of fame?

Most of the mid ranked eaters are women making it to the table you fool. Should winning a qualiifer with 7 to 10 hot dogs earn you a spot at the table? Hmmm?

@9:27 well that’s the nature of the beast since MLE split the woman and men. Unfortunately, there are not as many women as men that can eat 20+. So until more women step it up (like miki) you will continue to see women winning with 10 HDB. That still doesn’t mean MLE should cater to the weaklings that can’t compete with the big boys. Practice and plan which qualifier you have the best shot at winning.

Back in 1998 a dentist from NJ Dr Tanzer won the Newport NJ Nathans qualifier with 10.5 .

I think it is sad because people cannot accept the fact that people like Sonya, Miki and Molly are better than many of the men competitors out there. Most women don’t eat for competition because of embarrassment – now that being said – the later of the three may push some great women out of the woodwork to finally show talent. Trust me – not so impressed with some of the numbers that the men put up in many of their competitions.

For years, Sonya’s been the only female talent that can hang with the guys, so it’s rather remarkable that miki and Molly stepped into the scene right around the same time last year. These two are quickly proving they’re right up there with Sonya, so this might mean that we’ll see ladies of their level emerge onto the scene on a yearly basis. Or, miki n Molly are just crazy anomalies… Who knows

Thank you @9:17. It is true. The only reason people are so mean and are attacking the two new girls is because “they are new”. Sonya can’t eat forever.

It’s a mans world my ass,

You clearly can’t see that this year is probably easier then it has been in years! Berty and Tim Brown both dropped out, that leaves two spots open right there! Yasir, Juan and lets not forget Pretty boy all won their qualifiers with 27.5 or less, maybe you shoulda had the forsight to go to one of those qualifiers and try to top that number… Now you have to deal with some of the more heavy hitters in the back part of the qualifiers… If anything you should be glad they now have a womens division because it used to be only 2 girls making the table (Sonya and J. Lee) now you would of had like of Miki and Molly to deal with…

Molly will be good for 33-36 HDB’s. That’s if the conditions are fair on that day (quality of hot dogs and weather are decent)

Having four women able to eat 30, two of which can eat over 40, it is time to dissolve that division and let them eat with men. That will also get rid of women with low totals eaten in a qualifier who should not be there.

Also, increase the purse size for the single contest from $20K to $30K and pay all competitors. After all, they wouldn’t be there if they didn’t win a qualifier or by wild card.

    Light bulb:

If MLE reverts to the old format after they’ve already recognized the importance of the growing female division, it’s almost guaranteed that the top females would be offended and walk.

I want to eat 45 and hold hands with the person who ate 6…we are alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll winners! Yay for everybody who wins by default!

Watt are you talking about? Women’s division is only one of how many annual contests? Sonya and Juliet were there for several years when there was only the men’s finals. They’re not going anywhere.
