Just get rid of that damned dunking! Or, call them soup contests (which is essentially what they are) and provide bowls, straws, and spoons.

Great. Now everybody who doesn’t matter and everybody with no vested interested in the rules is going to chime in here and drown out the opinions of the people whose input is actually important.

I’ve lost many a contest to some stars who used 6 to 8 cups of liqafied buns to win there events..I also wondered why cups were never checked after the contests? You know who you are.It wont happen again

I personally like using different liquids for different contests depending on the food. But the IFOCE had something good going when they made the rule change for KSO last year, there are certain contests that have dunking bans and restrictions of types of liquids to be used. But why should everyone have to suffer because of CLC?

I agree with A-Bomb! Listen, the whole dunking thing… well, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. There is, however, a problem with people hiding shit in their cups during the contest. That’s despicable. I think the rule should be to use clear cups for both types of contests (someone could spit out something while they are drinking in a non-dunk contest as well).

The whole idea here is consumption. However you choose to get that in your stomach, well who cares. If some contests like the KSO want to go non dunk then hell yeah! That’s great. Set the rules that govern the contest and that’s that. Whomever wins that contest is the best for that contest given the rules. But ffs can we get some clear cups?

It dont matter if you have clear cups if you have if you dont have clear liquids..Stuff will still get hidden..After a contest all cups must be checked before a winner is declared..otherwise just have bottles

Well put, but the point is to get rid of cup spitting. No one uses opaque fluids, Pat uses Kool-Aid, but he eats everything and even still it’s a translucent fluid. The cups need to be checked!

The powders which some eaters claim to be crystal lite should be sent to a lab for forensic testing

Nothing will be done to address this issue at the IFOCE level. Why should they? Dunking/cheating creates bigger numbers and is practiced by some of their most marketable stars, so why would they want to ban it? The only way dunking will be ruled out is by the sponsors, which is what we saw from the fine (and very smart) folks at Krystal. If other sponsors wise up and elect not to have their food item transformed into a soggy, disgusting mess on stage, then we’ll finally see some change on this issue.

Another way to combat it, other than clear cups, is to limit the amount of cups to TWO. One for drinking (with a bottled water standing by for a refill) and one for dunking. If either of your cups gets low on water, you fill it up yourself. When you look at the Nathan’s table and you see seven or eight giant cups of water in front of each eater, it just looks ridiculous. Get rid of that clutter and put the focus back on where it should be — the eating!

a cupful of vodka always does it for me,& makes a great aftershave, too! No need to dunk when you’re drunk.(Seriously,I used to drink but now I just soak.)

Steakbellie was using a mysterious steaming yellow liquid at french fries. I think his liquids should be tested from now on.

I’m sure the liquid went in cold.
