Miki is the clear cut winner, she has a once a decade type ability in competetive eating. Butler is a good new eater as well who could break into the top 10 very soon. Molly and wayne shoudnt even count in this since they arnt competing against the best pros every single contest.

Molly had opportunities to compete against the best independents this year, but she avoided all of them. (hot dogs with kobayashi, gringo banditos with kobi, Let Them Eat with kobi/ mcdonald/ bertoletti). Good strategy, but her record is exaggerated because of it. Just sayin

Molly also skipped on Z-burgers and bartolini’s meatballs against bertoletti and mcdonald.

Why doesn’t Molly get in contests Koby is entered in? She seems to get in every other one! Miki only goes up against the very best IFOCE eaters. Joey and Matt would easily handle Molly and Jamie in these recent contests the same way they have beaten Miki. The quality of Miki’s competition is far superior to Molly’s (who hasn’t faced off against Bertoletti as well). For Molly to gain more credibility she must face the top two independent eaters. That would make the comparison a lot more valid than it is now.

Molly has not directly faced off against Pat Bertoletti, but she outate him 90 to 71 at the Dumpling Festival

Molly’s extremely talented, but as Locust points out, she’s avoided every contest where the top 2 independent eaters were present. A strong record is easy to maintain if you’re always staying home when the big dogs come out. Molly’s lost to Jamie this year, and she’d be easily crushed by any sort of tougher competition. Maybe Sudo should take a page from Molly’s book and avoid every contest with Joey Chestnut and Matt Stonie.

As far as the dumpling record, most would agree that a 2 minute contest doesn’t prove superiority, especially since Molly and bertoletti weren’t even in the same round. If she’d beat him at PIE or meatballs, that would be another story but she didnt compete.

The grass is always greener on the other side. I haven;t heard Molly say that she is better than anyone or she is better than Pat or Koby. Here’s a thought, if everyone here is so interested in seeing Molly go up against Pat or Koby, why don’t they get in the same contest as Molly? It’s easy to say Molly is avoiding them but maybe they are avoiding her. Interesting to think about the big dogs staying home when Molly is in town too, right?

Oh yeah, I can definitely see Koby avoiding Molly. I’m sure he would forfeit his $10,000 appearance fee if he found out he would have to face off against her.

I’m not knocking Molly – she puts up spectacular numbers; I’m just saying she hasn’t gone up against Koby and Pat in an actual competition where real money is on the line. Until she does, it is pure conjecture how she would do. Miki has proven her greatness and is 7-0 against Sonya with none of them even being close.

Locust I wonder if your precious Mickey will be in the hot dog finals. That situation will be very interesting. I’m sure Wayne Norbitz just loves her. That is why the Sheas have not changed the rankings. Mickey deserves to be number 3, but how do you explain their top ranked female eater missing that event? Wonder how it plays out.

  17. Locust said

    October 29, 2013 @ 10:17 pm

Sonya couldn’t stay on top forever. Did you really think she would improve her performance as she gets into her late 40’s? Sorry to inform you that it doesn’t work that way. Getting older is NOT an advantage in competitive eating or any other sport or physical activity. The sooner this sinks in, the better it will be for your state of mind.

It’s really quite sad that you would try to keep someone from competing because of a mistake she made years ago and has paid for several times over. It just makes you look petty and self serving.

Locust since you have become so vocal and opinionated on this site which never occurred before, why don’t you ask the Shea’s if you could replace Paul Page as co commentator with Rich Shea? You have nothing else to do

So Wayne Norbitz looks petty and self serving? Locust, are you going to make up for loss of sales for Nathan’s Famous if Miki competes in NYC on July 4, 2014? Do you not see the message that sends? Can you not see Major League Eating’s dilemma in handling this with kid gloves? Are you that naive? Maybe things will just magically work themselves out, eh?

Locust’s support of Miki is quite touching and in line with his character. Yet I do think he is being unrealistic about not recognizing the dilemma for MLE and Nathans. Going forward, just imagine that Miki does complete. Is she going to be on the Nathans contest Wall, would she be front and center with the American flag waving? This is actually about people’s perceptions. PR can only do so much. It is too easy to smear people right here on eatfeats but for the public at large, that is another matter.

I am not a fan of Sudo by any means but lets face it. without the jealous little yentas on this site googling her name in the hope that they can find some dirt on the girl and ship the info via email to the Shea’s or Wayne Norbitz, then nobody would even know about her little airline prank. With that said she would have competed in Nathans and pocketed a cool 10G’s

YES! I couldn’t WAIT to start obsessing about Miki/Nathan’s 2014! Gotta say, I was a little lost when the topic went dead for 2 months, but 10 months out of the year isn’t bad… Glad to see there are others out there, who were just as eager to beat the same equine carcass from years ago 🙂

Molly might as well quit also because she has a family and chooses to spend less time obsessing with the blatant assholes who think their game is higher God. Let’s just keep hitting the fact that she is not in an area or situation to do what all of the other “single” eaters with little responsibility in their lives can do. Bad Molly – you should walk away from your family to prove a point.

First of all, I was not referring to Wayne Norbitz as being petty and self serving and I’m sure you know that. I don’t agree with people who think Miki’s appearance at the Nathan’s final would have any negative impact on sales whatsoever. Exactly why would the 1-2% of the consumers of their product who are even aware of the contest give a damn about one contestant’s past? Do you honestly think they would all ban together and join forces to boycott all Nathans products? THAT is being naive. As for being a public relations nightmare? Not if it is handled with any level of competence. Miki is intelligent, well spoken and presents herself very well. She needs to explain to Wayne and other top executives exactly what happened and the events that led to her fateful act. She needs to make a sincere apology and make it very clear that she was totally aware of the date and had no intent of malice.

Miki’s behavior away from the table is totally unrelated to her ecellence at the table. She has nothing to apologize for! If people aren’t over 9-11 that is their issue and not hers.

Only a few jealous people (perhaps just one) want to keep bringing up the past in the hope it will keep her out of Coney and winning the 10 grand she would rightfully earn.

Our opinions do not matter. MLE and Nathans will decide what to do. None of us has any inside track on their thinking. If someone does, they certainly are not going to post it here. Locust seems like a good advisor for Miki. It is not true though that people have forgotten or that anyone here is stirring the pot. People want to know about eaters, and googling her will bring up her past. OJ makes a ritual of taking issue with so called wrong stats and every little detail of things to do with competitive eating. Lots of people research as much as he does. And the majority of people will never ever forget 9-11. Almost everyone over a certain age when Kennedy was assassinated remembers where they were on that day and the news. 9-11 is as big an event as that if not more so because so many people were killed. Maybe Locust has the inside track to MLE and can help Miki.
