But what if Mike Lupica was able to take the court and actually OUTPERFORM some of his competitors? Would he still be a writer posing as an athlete or a would be become an athelete who also happens to write? Regardless, I'm not a writer who decided to "try out" competitive eating just to get an inside perspective. To be fair, I was eating on a competitive level (though not in the IFOCE) long before I was blogging. But honestly, I don't consider the type of blogging that I do to be "writing" in the traditional sense. Krista and Liz's blogging...now THAT's writing. So if my "writing" came AFTER I started competing, I guess I'd be more like Tiger Woods, MJ, or any other athlete who publishes accounts of their experiences in their respective sports. Regardless, I’m not a writer who decided to “try out” competitive eating just to get an inside perspective.
