Maria Edible stood by her man and stopped competing as well. They must have had some long talk and it is obvious that if she continued competing it would become a conflict of interest. The only downside to this scenario is that history has proven that once you leave MLE it’s never the same. Many eaters have tried in vain to get themselves back in the picture doing other indy things but it never fully works to their advantage. . Like pain medication it works for the short term but after awhile they miss the real limelight. Kobayashi is the exception but then again a name like Kobayashi comes along once in a lifetime.

So what the hell is Pat and Gravy going to do with themselves now? Create a Sudo less second season of STUFFED? Maybe he can call on the services of El Toro or Dale Boone to liven up the show after Dax the Dick failed to provide the persona that was sorely needed to keep the show a float. Gravy must be coming off that two month high of whatever kind of shit he was smoking and turned to Bertie and said “Dude i think we just fucked up”

Pat was one of the few that stood up to that cup stuffing Thomas . He was not afraid to point out bullshit when he saw it unlike some others

Pat may be sorry he will not be able to spew the red spray on MLE opponents any more.

Pat could see his game dropping off over the last several months. The contract thing is just subterfuge

You know something is wrong when some of the best eaters are leaving the league. I’d kill to see Kobi and Pat start their own league.

Why is it when Kobi was with MLE everyone in the organization embraced him like a legend and not that he’s gone the same people make believe he does not exist?

Koby has abandoned all of his friends in the organization, not the other way around.

It is completely ridiculous and naive to think that either Kobi or Pat or any one person is going to have the energy, time, money, desire to start their own league. They might, but these things take enormous commitment and leadership and a mission and goals. Just being a great eater has nothing to do with these things. There is not one single eater who is not replaceable. I am sure that MLE is not stressed about Pat leaving. He is a great eater and person and entertaining and everything else. He also has other career goals which may not sync with MLE. Plus imo he has nothing more to gain from being in MLE, been there, done that did great things. Kobi is a different story completely. He does’t have English skills to do much more than he is already doing. He has a woman who is in charge of his life in a sense who does have English fluency. If he could have actually started his own league in Japan or here, he would have already done it.

@7:03 – You must have not read about the Draconian contract that the MLE tried forcing him into, nor have you read that Kobayashi offered to eat at Nathan’s FOR FREE because he didn’t care about the money.

@1:13 am, Yes I know all about both things. I disagree with you respectfully for many reasons. Considering the contract to be Draconian is fine from your perspective. Both eaters, all eaters have choices. Why blame MLE for acting in their best interests and those of the sponsors who generate the income for MLE and the eaters. They are not a charity. They are not eaters trust funds. Your take on all this is narrow.

And while it is true that Koby offered to eat for free, that was only because he had one thing in mind, only one. He wanted to take back the crown but then do as he wished. MLE did not agree to that. Koby down to the wire still wanted to participate. His manager tried to make the contract seem Draconian, and from their perspective it is and was. His manager is not a professional manager. You know from reading the interview her skills etc. Neither ever understood about how things work here in the US or in the world. Koby only knew about what he did in Japan and that he came here, did a few contests and pocketed some big bucks. Then he got his own visa to come here and a new girlfriend in the process who advised him. Basically the rest is history. And while never naming names, his friendships with some eaters were very close and they privately helped him when he was jailed. Both he and Maggie have cut ties with MLE and in the process thrown those eaters into what they think is the dirty bathwater. That is their choice. They hang out with other Japanese and other stylists and Maggie’s world has become Koby’s world. I wish him all the luck and admire him. But I do think they both are under quite a few misinterpretations of how Koby could parlay his fame. That is also too bad because there will never be another Kobayashi likely.

Pat has his own career goals and again, no one person is replaceable. It is almost impossible to separate out, aside from money, how much Pat and Gravy gained from being with MLE. They took all of that with them to open their food trucks. Would they have been known as they are if they were two guys opening food trucks. No. Publicity and getting known in the media is priceless. These are my opinions of course. I try to agree or disagree respectfully which is not always the case here on eatfeats.

If he does not expect to return to MLE why does he bother showing up in Coney Island with his GF who has no intention of competing with MLE? Her spot in the rankings could be put to good use by someone like Tim the Shark
