Randy Santel announces that he completed Casey's Whale Challenge at Casey's Fish N Chip Shop in Ossett, England today to bring his total of successful restaurant challenges to 400. He and Mitch Dombrowski will face "Beard Meats Food" at Skippers Cafe to attempt the Kraken breakfast challenge tomorrow.

    How can it be sad for 2 people to have a job where they travel all over the place eating, drinking (networking), sightseeing, and meeting people? I spent 6 years sitting behind a desk working in the construction industry, and decided that wasn’t for me. Anything can be a career/job if you are good enough, distinct from others, and you 101% view it mentally as your career and not even 1% as just a hobby. When I quit construction on October 26, 2013, I deleted all my resumes and everything else involved with that past career so that I could focus solely on making all this stuff that I’m working on a career. There was no plan B or fall-back plan. Always keep in mind that the real money is not in eating, it is in the promotions/advertising/sponsorship/marketing side of things. MLE’s #1 eater makes more $$ via his YouTube channel than every single competitive eater in the world combined makes from winning actual eating contests (does not include appearance fees), and that includes the payouts from Nathan’s, Wing Bowl, and the other larger payout contests. And if it isn’t more since there are of course contests occurring that none of us ever hear about, the number is pretty darn close. How much a person can eat doesn’t matter 1/2 as much as how many people are willing to follow and watch that person eat. Until the competitive eating world fully grasps that concept, food challengers will continue doing challenges for free meals and t-shirts, and competitive eaters will continue doing contests to win barely enough money to cover the expenses it cost to get there.

    And @11:04 lol the title of this thread indirectly says I’ve “won” 400 times. 401 actually, I won 2 yesterday 😉

    I think i have heard it all . Lawyers, doctors, data scientists professors etc have quit their professions to become pro poker players because they either felt they can make more money in that field or they just got bored with 100k per year when they can make 5 to 10x that amt sitting in a chair playing with cards. But quitting a hard hat job which includes union benefits OT and 75k a year salary to travel the circuit picking up a few hundred bucks doing eating challenges is absurd. Your rent and total expenses is probably less than $500 a month. I hope for your sake you at least applied for public assistance and food stamps to supplement your rather lucrative income .

    Randy how do you know Stonie pulls in any dough from his YT channel? If you know anything about YT partnership program it takes quite some time to make any kind of real dough . You need to accumulate a certain amt of hits before you see one red cent . Not saying that Stonie hasnt reached his plateau but I would not quit my day job anytime soon thinking YT is my stairway to the stars.
