Ken Hoffman's column about judging the 2018 Nathan's finals closes with a paragraph about Sony "The Black Widow" Thomas, who was reportedly caught reversing into her hands by an unnamed MLE official and disqualified. (Did anyone catch this? I haven't seen any pictures or video of it).

Gersh Kuntzman, terrible journalist and an even worse judge, once made up a rule on the spot after Kobayashi reversed, caught the puke in his hands, and ate it. Even though the rule was clear — you heave, you leave — Gersh did not want to disqualify Koby, so he decided that a reversal does not count if it never hits the table or the floor. It was crazy, and it was unfair to the other eaters, but MLE didn not stop him, and Kobayashi finished second that day. My question to MLE: why the inconsistency? Why did you let Gersh invent an idiotic rule and impose it one year if you were not going to honor it in the future?

Gersh is a disgrace to journalism. He knowingly publishes lies for his own amusement. That sucks. He makes the world a worse place by abusing the trust that the public has placed in news media.
