Stephanie Wu announces she has finished 100+ eating challenges

Stephanie Wu announced yesterday she successfully completed the challenge at Uncle Linny’s which takes her count to 100.5. She is the first woman (and fifth overall) to reach the challenge century mark. Others with 100+ documented challenge counts: Randy Santel (250+), Ramsey Hilton (200+), Naader Reda, Ryan “Max Carnage” Rodacker.

Other possible members of the century club include the LeFevres, Pete Czerwinski, Pat Bertoletti, Joey Chestnut.

Taft Parker has finished Shula’s 48 ounce steak
at least 347 times. This might be the overall top mark for challenges done if you do not require different sites.

Greatest challenge eater ever? All she is doing is overeating and producing poor times. Have you ever seen Miki destroy a huge challenge? Usually way under 30-40 minutes. More like under ten. Molly tends to hit 5 lbs always under five. Miki the same. Why is Torres doing all these challenges with Wu and pretending to be anonymous? Must be another person to leech off of.

Seiken easily has lost 70 or so documented contests, and no showed a bunch more which should count as losses because he is a pussy. So yes he has failed well over 100 times.

Can someone explain the significance of taking on eating challenges (hundreds of miles away from home) when there’s no cash prize involved? It just doesn’t seem logical to travel to all corners of the nation, just for free food and half a second of attention. Seriously, why would anyone drive across the country and back for an ill-fitting T-shirt and their name on some wall of obscrurity? Gas ain’t free, and neither are hotel rooms.

To each their own, but this all just reeks of desparation for acknowledgement, attention, and validation. So over it.

Anon 1:12, I’d be happy to answer that question if this was a legitimate forum where people actually post their own names, but unfortunately it isn’t at all. That type of question can be asked about anything and any type of hobby or lifestyle really. Why do people travel hundreds of miles to go golfing at some particular famous course and spend all kinds of money on that? Why do people get “gauges” in their ears? Why would a guy want 6 wives? Why do people spend $5 on a Starbucks latte every morning and then bitch about having no money and an expanding waistline? Sometimes I don’t really understand why people travel hundreds of miles for an eating contest that they know they won’t win or even place well enough to win a prize. In the movie Fury, why did Brad Pitt and his men decide to stay in the tank and fight when they could have just ran away and survived? I don’t really understand a lot of cultures and customs, and why many people do what they do, but in the end I understand that they are going to go do those things anyway whether I care or not, and the same thing applies to your situation as well. I choose to remain apathetic about things I’m not interested in, and I research the interesting things to learn more about them. People travel around for eating challenges and contests because it is fun for them and worth spending their money on because they enjoy it. Why do people spend $30,000 on a new car? Because they want to and because it makes them happy. I don’t know who you are, but I’m sure you spend your money on many things I would never spend my money on. My money goes towards trips and food related stuff I enjoy, rather than “stuff” that will be outdated in a year or two, and many other people are like that too. For example, some people may go to New York for the Statue Of Liberty, and I along with others go for their eating challenges. I am fine with seeing the statue of liberty on a post card, but the great thing about traveling is that we can take time to do all the sightseeing too. I decided many years ago that I didn’t want to be a person that never left home and missed out on experiencing other foods, cultures, and environments. To be honest, I have more fun in Europe than I do here in the states. I cannot wait to go to Australia later this year and then back to Europe in 2016. Even in the states, I have visited many cities that I would never have visited if they didn’t have some particular food challenge I wanted to do there.

What we do is not about the “ill-fitting T-shirts” and free meals, or photos on a wall. I spent over $200 trying to win a food challenge in Kansas City, and finally did on the 5th attempt. After winning that dam challenge finally, it was worth every dam penny I spent. If you want to find out what is important to people, just look at their debit and credit card statement. We live in a society where people will spend $8 on a beer waaaaayyyyy before spending $8 on a book that will change their thinking and their life. So please know that we do understand why you don’t understand, because I don’t think any of us think what we do is normal, but that can be said about all kinds of people and the things they do. There is no desperation involved really, and it is just a fun thing we enjoy. Some people choose to post so that people can follow and find out more about the challenges, and some people don’t really do anything other than take a photo, eat, and move on. It’s all up to the individual and what they enjoy. It is then up to other people to decide whether they want to follow that person and whether they will enjoy seeing all the posts and photos. In today’s age of technology, following or not following somebody just takes the click of a button. So rather than get upset, which won’t help anything, it would be smarter to just make the necessary clicks that keep you from following the people you don’t enjoy following. Either way, we are going to keep doing what we do anyway. – Randy

You are correct Randy Atlas Santel. Plus you forgot to mention that it is none of their F’in business. We all do things in life for a reason. The main thing here is that what we do brings us joy and happiness. It’s not about shirts, gift cards or pictures on the wall.

Let Stephanie do her thing if she enjoys it. Does it really bug you other anonymous people how she manages to do it? I don’t care where her money comes from or where she showers. She is doing what pleases her and if she is happy, then darn it so am I.

Guessing the individual at 1:12 is a loner who doesn’t won’t even splurge for good deodorant. Get a life a**hole!

Randy and Rocky get it. We do eating challenges for the fun of it; not for a free t-shirt, picture or name on a wall of fame or any monetary reward. Some seek attention while most of us do them without any fanfare. I never toot my own horn when I do a challenge no matter how difficult it was, but if people like Stephanie Wu need to seek any attention they can get to validate their self esteem, then so be it.

4 or 5 yrs ago Wu was a huge fixture on this site .Her comments complaints about nathans and its lack of local qualifiers set someone off big time. Comments such as boo hoo wu sounded very much like us male janus or other staunch supporters of mle at that time

I am amazed by how much negativity is on this site. Don’t even know why I bother reading any comments at all anymore to be honest. Lots of people feel the same way and actually avoid this site to a certain degree just because of the negativity.

What I dont get is why do you guys have to go out of your way hating on everybody or everything? Dont like somebody, fine, great, who cares. Just do not be spamming your hatred and making nothing but stupid jokes about it. Its beyond annoying period. I think its cool Wu got her 100th+ food challenge win. A lot of people do not advertise about how many they have done so more people are in that century club mark then most realize. Wu is probably like the 5th woman to hit this mark. That is no knock on her either. She enjoys what he does, great. Its a hell of an accomplishment to hit that century mark.
