In a response to a twitter inquiry about the possibility of a comeback, Tim "Eater X" Janus says he threw up almost 10,000 times over the course of his 12 year competitive eating career, which has had an unknown impact on his health.

I feel sorry for Janus, that he used such poor judgment. What he did, for whatever purpose, is bulimia. It has terrible consequences for one’s body. Your electrolytes are completely out of balance, your teeth rot because of the acid and other problems which he himself mentions. There are definitely some eaters who do not throw up. Better to have a pot-belly from excess food than to throw up or even be very overweight.

He had a major eating disorder alright. We had asked him to join us for dinner a long time ago He politely refused . On another occasion he just watched us eat Not even a nibble

The numbers do not make sense unless he was training an enormous number of times. 10,000 divided by 12, you do the math. There are not that many contests to even train for. He must have eaten and almost never kept anything down.

when you throw up especially when its forced you can do serious damage to the throat larynx throat and intestines . Nothing to play around with . He made some decent money and was probably a hall of fame eater but in the long run its not worth damaging vital organs

The math is simple: water training twice a day every day, plus all of the puking necessary to bring up the contest food.

You guys are kidding yourselves if you think the top eaters aren’t puking up their water-training water + practice food and contest food.

That’s not bulimia. That’s how the good eaters train. They chug water and puke. They eat 40, 50, 60, or 70 hot dogs then puke.

i just want to say i had a great time in Citifiled hanging out with Badlands Wayne Adam Darren and a bunch of others It saddened me to hear from Dudlight that he was jumped and beaten up badly by three punks in Philly about a month ago. Saw the marks on his face . Unfortunate that incidents of that magnitude stay with you forever and proves the point that you need to be armed or have backup with you at all times but that easier said than done. Crazy Legs did greet me at first but a few minutes later i wanted to ask him something but he ignored me . I asked him again from a short distance thinking maybe he didnt hear me but same response . Whatever who cares . I wish him well but he’s never making it to Nathans so i dont know why he bothers . At least Wild Bill had sense enough to sit this one out . My totals were horrendous . After a plate and a half i felt like someone had both their hands around my neck as each hot dog became harder and harder to swallow . I used to bank on Shea or Citifield as having the best tasting hot dogs but not this time. The days are gone when they would hold the qualifiers at indoor shopping malls in NJ in which they were grilled to perfection. The only way to experience that same taste is probably at Coney Island

The only way to experience that taste is to buy a few dozen from Coney or Oceanside and grill them yourself.

They sell them raw at oceanside?

i have a rather inexpensive grill master at home bought it for $30 years ago Grill one sabrett hot dog for 3 min it tastes perfectly grilled I bet if they put some of those disgusting tasting dogs they served at shittyfield the other day and let them cook for a few min on that same grill the numbers would have been a lot higher . Eaters should either boycott or complain to Nathans about the terrible conditions the eaters have to deal with when it comes to those rancid tasting hot dogs

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but
I find this matter to be actually something which I think
I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad
for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!
