Condolences again to the Vandam family, the article gives the details of what happened to the fine competitor. Like all people whose personal loss is staggering, no amount of money could possibly change what happened or be compensation. Of note is that they are seeking a very small sum of money which I am sure is not the main event at all. I think that they are trying, in part, to prevent a future occurrence and giving notice about compliance with safety regulations in order to spare others the loss of their loved ones. IFOCE/MLE is to be lauded again for insisting upon the presence of an EMT for every and any contest, appearance etc. They are protecting their members. And please refrain from cynicism about protecting themselves legally. We ALL know that. (It obviously did not apply to diving)
