Those are some amazing totals for Wing Bowl. The wings must have been very fast and the judges must have had a “let them eat” attitude.

The placings are pretty much whatI I expected, and I am actually more impressed / surprised by Wingador’s performance than anyone else’s, believe it or not.

    This event makes no sense!

Gentleman Jerry gets about 50% in the first round from last year to this year. Wingador does %30 better than he’s ever done, despite having not eaten competitively in years. Joey and Pat each do %30 better.

    ???

Congratulations Joey and Pat, you are currently the best eaters around. Brad, I am sorry you were disqualified but your total at first round shows you can be considered the “kid on the block”? I agree with you Rhonda, Wingador did it well, over 200 is A LOT, my respect too all of you guys and congratulations again.

    What’s “snotting a wing” mean?

Rhonda you show no respect for the great El Wingador. I for one am shocked that El Wingador did not win the event or at least come in 2nd. Though I know Joey and Pat are great eaters I thought that this event was owned by El Wingador. Besides Joey and Pat there is no one in that field that was in El Wingador’s talent level for wings. Who did you possibly think would place above El Wingador other then Pat and Joey? Obviously, this shows you ignorance on Wingbowl itself.

Wow – Just as I didn’t predict!! Humble Bob must still be digesting Krystals!

Jake you usually make intelligent comments, but today you are either ignorant, dyslexic, or both. Read my comments again, perhaps backwards this time, in case the latter is your biggest detriment.

To further elaborate, I EXPECTED Wingador to finish behind those two. (I listed my predictions long ago on another thread, and they were very accurate, with regards to placements, but I was way too conservative on the totals.) The totals lead me to believe that the judges deducted very few if any wings (from everyone’s totals) this time.

I also stated in a still different thread that Wingador should consider himself lucky if he comes within 3 dozen wings of Joey. I think I was fairly accurate, as 241 – 205 = 36.

How an eater can be just about the best in the world in one food and beneath the carpet on another is wild. But that’s Humble Bob and that’s what helps make CE interesting and not always predictable.

Rhonda looks like I did misread you. I figured you were surprised by El Wingador’s placing, but it seems like you were more surprised with his total numbers. Even still, I think El Wingador could rival joey and pat in wings most days. Today was just not his day and he probably had too much ring rust.

  14. Anonymous said

    February 1, 2008 @ 5:46 pm

Ring rust you say, but the man ate 40 more wings than he ever did in his life and there was no way in hell he would now or ever beat Joey Chestnut or Mr. Bertoletti.

What was Joey doing in the bathroom before the contest ahhhh maybe barfing the 3 gallons of water to strech his stomach,or what ever else he can do without being seen.Pats the real champ.

Yes and definitely in that order. Pat will never ever not ever dethrone Joey as number one unless Joey just decides to step away.

That Sykobozo. The wings were so friggin cold from the very start as the WIP crew made the supplier take them out of the warmers right before the entourages started coming out. Gentlemen Gerry & myself were screwed big time the first round. I ate 110 & Gerry ate a few more. After the first round we were told we did not qualify for the first round. As Gerry was being a gentleman, I was going apeshit. The judges finally realized they screwed up and made up a total for our first round placement. Did not make a difference in the final tally but it takes from our actual totals.

Wing bowl is a great event and I have a winderful time from the minute I arrive to the stadium. HOWEVER, I am considering not doing Wing Bowl again in 2009.

Thanks for all those who supported and believed in me. I will deliver in IFOCE events during the year.
