The BBC reports that Lee Palmer and Michael Doggrell ate 19 mince pies in 10 minutes to tie for the lead in today's mince pie eating contest at Wookey Hole caves in England, less than half of the 46 pies Sonya Thomas ate to win the 2006 contest. (Daily Mail article)

    Further evidence of Sonya’s greatness and prowess. She put the contest on the map and continues to do so by her previous participation.

    It makes me very proud whenever I see Sonya’s name mentioned. Yes, she doesn’t always win, though she has a pretty good win percentage, but no person, man nor woman, puts more into competitive eating than this tiny tot.

    Sometimes I try to imagine women’s competitive eating had Sonya not became interested, though I think Juliet would have led the way pretty well.
