The Nation reports that Hing Laichan, a 66 year old motorcycle taxi driver, died in a pad thai noodle eating contest in the Phetchaburi province of Thailand.

I would hope that when or if I die in a contest some anonymous asshole won’t respond in that fasion. I feel bad for this man. And I feel sorry for the anonymous asshole who commented before me.

    I think the anonymous poster was (also) making a criticism of this website for posting such information at this time. I find no link to the two. I agree with you Tiny and would not be so sure that the person is not an eater.

    I don’t see anywhere what the cause of death was.

    He could have had a stroke, heart attack, or a pre-existing disease, and the timing was just bad.

    Everyone should just chill, as at least the poor guy didn’t die of hunger like so many are in Haiti right now.

    A few word about Rhonda Evans. Whoever he or she is, that person is the most annoying thing that ever posted on any blog. Would not surprise me if her primary residence is in DC or VA. Figure that one out. I will say that he or she is extremely intelligent but seems to know eveything about everyone in competitive eating. He or she has an opinion for everything and everyone, and at times it becomes very annoying. Brings nothing to this site but animosity. I compare Rhonda Evans to the loudmouth that sits in front of the class constantly raising her hand with the answer to the teachers questions just to hear herself speak. I doubt OJ Rifkin is Rhonda Evans. The word “ban” does not exist in OJ RIfkin vocabulary. He lets anything and anyone post on here as long as they don’t step over the line.

    Oh boy……here we go again. I think anonymous at 12:06 is Brian who perhaps still thinks that I am Rhonda though he says otherwise. Reading this sentence makes me realize how really silly all of this is. I too wonder where’s Rhonda, but that isn’t important. Deep Throat’s identity was not revealed until very recently.

    BB, after a hiatus, then a sometimes, I checked your website today with my new computer, even downloaded the latest for compatibility with Mac to see videos, yes, for free. Often you get what you do not pay for. It doesn’t work. I am going to publicly thank you for removing a comment as I requested in private e-mail but will also publicly state that I alas, will not be checking in often. Your weight loss is terrific. Congratulations! Your Elvis adventures were clearly enjoyed by you and others. You have a good list for New Year’s resolutions, I will be happy to see you follow some of those.

    Personally, one thing which makes eatfeats more palatable than yours is simple readability. Your posts are all over the screen with enthusiasm but disorganization. I am speaking only design, not content. But I think that you really do not want my opinion, I think, you want my support with only positive comments.

    For the Sherlock Holmes minded, if you really really care about Rhonda versus Rona, I have spent considerable time in Japan over the last ten years, even before eatfeats. During those times I barely had access to e-mail. The last time I was in Japan for a five month stay, I watched live the AICE New Year’s contest and also visited Kobayashi in Tokyo. He put something about that visit along with photos on his blog. I left Japan in February of 2008 and alas, have not returned due to my parents being ill. However during my last visit, I believe I commented on the AICE contest via my host family’s computer, and GJoe commented graciously in response. We are all capable of change or at least tweaking our less desirable qualities. I do wish you and everyone well in your endeavors and as always, may the best eater win.

    Rona i am not into the two personality thing. I do not believe you are Rhonda Evans as i stated in the past because she appears to know much more about the sport and the people involved than you do. Congrag on upgrading to windows. I thought i would never hear those words. Now you can catch up on 4 or maybe 5 yrs worth of BB corner shows and other goodies. Best news i heard all year. As far as my disorientated website, you didn’t seem to have a problem with the furniture arranged in the wrong rooms until you thought i was the anomymous poster accusing you of being Rhonda Evans. I agree somewhat that the structure needs some work but its more of a trademark than anything else. I think the best new years resolution would be if everyone who posts under anonymous would come clean and admit a true identity. As far as the weight loss, Wing Kong made a comment to me before i took stage that i opted for the Elvis look during his last few months. I took offense to that but he was prob on the money because i put on a few since the big loss in sept and oct. I intend to do something about that right away

    Oh Dear, BB, I hate to burst your bubble, but read closely please.     And, to be honest, I always thought your website was visually a huge jumble, and it made me visually nutty, but I read it until the content here and there began to be something I did not wish to read. That being said, your website is yours to arrange any way you wish, it is yours. Eatfeats is eatfeats. As I told you privately previously, best to put your efforts into your website and let eatfeats be what it is. Just my opinion, glad you know that it is not Rhondas. I do wonder why she disappeared but who knows. I thought you once said you had her e-mail address. Just another thought. That’s all folks.

    It was just a figure of speech when i used the term info. The IP means nothing . Normally when you run a blog and moderate comments the IP address of the party leaving a comment usually shows up in the dashboard. It only comes in handy if someone posts under a real identity and that same person posts under an alias . You then have a match. I admit there are times i post under anonymous leaving enough evidence for exposure.However i have never viciously slammed another fellow competitive eater using an alias unless they truly deserved it . If i posted under anonymous it was to get my point across responding to a post in which i felt wasnt necessary to post under my real name . No need for me to become another Rhonda Evans. For example we all know that WLOCE fan is Dale Boone and he knows you know it but just to mess with people he wont reveal his real name.If OJ Rifkin wanted to be real nasty he could reveal the matched up IP anytime he wants. I respect the fact that he respects others privacy but that’s about where it ends.
