I think that article is wrong. X is San Diego. Conti is Citi field. Switcheroo!

Enough is enough with the bullcrap of headgames as to who is going where . Why does it have to be such a big secret as to which qualifier this one is doing and that one is doing. This child like stupidity should stop right now. After registration process with Nathans is finished , MLE should post a bulletin board with a list of the locations and which qualifier each eater is headed to. It would make it a hell of a lot easier and less of a burden financially . This avoids the little flip flopping games of crazy legs , janus and a few others securing spots for them or their buddies. . How would you feel shelling out 3 or 4 hundred bucks to san diego or anywhere for that matter only to find pat b or juliet showing up when you get there ?

Sad thing is, everybody has thier little clique and they talk to each other for them not to bump heads at qualifiers and or see if it’s worth making the trip out to a contest. True it’s a drag to lay down $400 and find out that a guy like Eater X or Lee shows up at your event but by the time the info is realsed to the eating world we’ve already paid for our travel expenses, hell sometimes people in the top ten just decide the day before to head out to an event.

It’s a dog eat dog world this competitive eating and I’ve come to the conclusion that you either accept your talents and do it for fun or get better.

But there’s still the nice sense of accomplishment that comes with finishing second place.

I actually fit right in with what anonymous @7:50 am said. I live in South Florida and I will be flying to San Diego to compete in the Nathans qualifier and I did lay down close to $1000 just to do it (That includes bringing my family and hotel cost). Finding out that Eater X, Pat, Sonya or any of those people are showing up does not upset me at all, in fact it makes it more exciting to compete against those guys. I flew to San Antonio to compete in Jalapenos knowing ahead of time that Pat and Sonya were going to be there and that I really didnt stand much of a chance but to be the best you have to beat the best! I loved getting to meet both of them (and even more of a kicker that I met all the other people who whooped me!). So yeah while getting a game plan ready helps I know that going out there I am going to have to do my best regaurdless of the competition and I look foward to the challenge anyway!

For Wrecking Ball and all competitors with great attitudes……so much of what gets written here about appearance fees and flying eaters out is far from the truth. Some people like to complain and make others feel jealous or slighted. Everyone would be very surprised to know how many eaters, even top ones, pay their own way for everything.

Wrecking Ball we need more people like you who looks at the positives of competing rather then bitch about the negatives. Hope you pull the upset in 2 weeks.

He’s some dude with one of the best attitudes out there. Who cares who he is? Nice to have someone who’s having fun and talking about it. Yeah, it’s for real – some really do get taken care of, but then there’s guys like this who have the right attitude. You GO big Wrecking Ball! Have huge fun.

I nominate the Wrecking Ball and his comments to receive the the first ever Carson “Collard Green” Hughes award for sportsmanship in competitive eating. That kind of attitude deserves a trip to Coney.
