Lori Weiss attempts (and completes?) Ye Old 96er in July

Lori Weiss and 96er
Before Kate Stelnick finished Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub’s 11 pound Ye Olde 96er burger in January, Lori Weiss came closest to completing the behemoth burger in the three hour time limit when she finished all except the bottom half of its bun despite a body weight of less than 100 pounds. Lori Weiss also finished Denny’s burger with 3 pounds of meat (about 5 pounds total) in a record 36 minutes. Blogger Baxojayz was present at Denny’s July 4th weekend when Ms. Weiss made another attempt at the leviathan. He said that she almost finished all the burger in two hours but does not provide her finishing time (or explicity state he saw her complete it).

If Lori Weiss did finish the burger, it is surprising that no media attention was paid to it at all since Kate Stelnick received a substantial amount of national publicity after her accomplishment. It is possible that she requested Denny’s to not inform the media about her feat, but she cannot be that extremely publicity shy since her record breaking attempt at the 3 pound burger was filmed for the Food Network in 2002.

It is interesting that the petite Pennsylvanian has apparently not competed in any contests or challenges outside of Denny’s since she seems to have world class eating ability in longer duration events and has the potential to give Sonya Thomas, if not Kobayashi a challenge. If AICE could get Ms. Weiss enrolled as a member, then that organization’s case that it is equivalent to IFOCE in restaurant’s eating challenges would be bolstered tremendously.

I wonder if Ms. Weiss will attempt Denny’s 15 pound Belly Buster burger. The article about her eating the 3 pound burger mentions that she ran four miles before attempting it (she might be able to singlehandedly finish the 50 pound “Mount Olympus” burger after completing a marathon.)

Updated 9/28 1:57 am Baxojayz says he was not there to see Lori complete the burger but she was almost finished at the two hour mark. He also said that she would not have set a record if she finished soon after because the record is below two hours. I was not aware that anyone had completed the 96er since Kate Stelnick finished it in 2:54 in January

Lori was trying to break that other girl’s time. It was the second time she was making the attempt. She has a whole strategy to it. She skipped eating for a couple days. Drank gallons of water the day before to stretch out her stomach. She started with the bottom bun, in her words, “that’s the nasty shit” and wanted to knock it out first. After two hours she was VERY close to finishing the burger, but NOT having the speed record. That’s when we left. We figured she had another hour on the time limit and we had over an hour to drive on unfamiliar roads. We didn’t see her finish it. If she didn’t do it that day, I’m POSITIVE she will at some point.

Lori told us that she already did holds all the female speed records for all the other size burgers. Since they knew her at Denny’s they even made custom sized burgers just for her.

I think she also mentioned taking on the 15 pounder.

    BTW: I LOVE YOUR BLOG!

I think Lori could put both that Widow phony and Kate to shame and she should be the number one eater in America period. I look to see her at Nathan’s on July 4th.

June Bug, regretfully I have to say this … do you even have a clue as to what the hell you’re talking about? Why don’t you mount and depart on that cyber jack-ass that you rode in on!

The previous comment came from a different IP address than the previous Arnie “Chowhound” Chapman comments, so it is doubtful it is authentic.

Hi Guys! Pound for pound Lori looks like a pretty good eater. And she’s probably a very attractive person. However, I don’t believe she is in a class with the top eaters in either organization, however. But she could be in time. She’s just starting out isn’t she?

Thats a lie, Lori Weiss has never did battle let alone beaten the top IFOCE Gurgitators. How could she have beaten me and i’ve never even heard of her? I agree this is the work of an impostor. not even Chowhound Chapman would post such false information

Hi folks, just wanted to respond to your comments and let you know a little bit about my sister, Lori Weiss. She had many accomplishments with the various challenges at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub, many of which are documented on plaques in the restaurant. I actually babysat her kids when she attended her very first challenge (and succeeded). When it came to the Ye Olde 96er,, Lori did fail her first attempt, eating all but the bottom bun as mentioned. But she tried again and did make the achievement, tying Kate. Lori never had big ambitions as a competitive eater, as far as I know. This was a local thing (Lori lived in Clearfield for many years) that started out just for fun. Thanks, Avy

11:38 am, you have no idea who visits this site, and you are wrong as usual. The main reason some people, including me, do not post real names is because of one person only. It is Seiken. Proud of yourself, aren’t you? Negative attention. Lots of people post under their real names, some perhaps not often but they do. That shows they are reading and following. You are a pest 11:38 and seem to like it that way. Jealous, mean, foolish comments.
