Jell-O Pudding Prix violates MLE safety standards

The MLE facebook announces the Jell-O Pudding Prix, where the public will submit videos in which they attempt to best the times for eating a cup of pudding posted by five ranked MLE eaters. (No prizes are listed.)

This competition appears to be in complete violation of the Major League Eating safety standards which are posted at http://www.ifoce.com/safety.php

MLE will not sanction or promote any events that do not adhere to the highest safety regulations. MLE believes that speed eating is only suitable for those 18 years of age or older and only in a controlled environment with appropriate rules and with an emergency medical technician present.

MLE is against at-home training of any kind. MLE strongly discourages younger individuals from eating for speed or quantity under any circumstances. MLE urges all interested parties to become involved in sanctioned events — do not try speed eating home.

Presumably “at” should be the second to last word of the above paragraph.

Good Grief OJ, were you over potty trained or a tattle tale when you were young? It is great to know stats etc. and to be successful as you have been and are requires certain good qualities. You have them in spades. But what you have written seems to really be almost too much information about your personality, unless of course somehow MLE has tried to take you down in some way and this is payback. Jello and pudding are soft and not solid, are you sure you are not a lawyer or someone who takes things too literally? Really OJ, disappointed in Iowa.

Are you kidding? Who in the top 20 does not water , diet coke , rice , watermellon , or cabbage train without the concent of MLE? There are only maybe 5 or 6 eaters that are natural. Do you really think the big numbers can be put up without doing something? What about Koby’s misterious green powder before a contest, and so on……………

    Hey Iowa,

MLE says “do not try speed eating home”

This means they do not want anyone to try speed eating at home. But now I guess it’s OK.

I agree with 5:20. As much as there is a conflict of policy I think the focus should be more on the event, and less on the drama. Also, you should consider that this is not an MLE event, this is a Jello event. MLE seems to just be provideing a few eaters to headline/kickstart the event. Jello’s Youtube Page seems pretty slow & unpopular, it will be interesting to see if this even gets off.

It’s a continued and perfect example of the double standard promoted by MLE.

Probably only 2 eaters in top 15 who doesn’t do water on a regular basis

A certain women eater uses dit coke instead of water. And anonymous 4:28 all in the to twenty uses some kind of liquid at home and before contests.

Lots of mis-information here and the best place to find out things is if the eaters themselves have a website or presence on Facebook. It is not any secret that Sonya drinks diet coke, come on folks, just read, it is all there. But training with it, no, absolutely not. For water training or any other kind of liquid training, again, just a sweeping generalization. Water itself has been proven to be not useful for training.

I agree this site is loaded with speculation and misinformation . I also notice that o.j. Rifkin only promotes my videos when they appear on YouTube and not when it’s. a non youtube vIdeo posted directly on my site. I speak. to some eaters directly which is why my info is usually and almost always accurate

I disagree. Eatfeats is the place to go to find out the real deal on eaters’ training habits. Let me add to that. I have it from a good source that at pretty good source that at least three ranked eaters had to be rushed to the ER after nearly dying from effects of training at home. As soon as a competitive eater dies interest will explode.

Here is a comment from someone claiming a top 3 Nathan’s finisher was hospitalized after water training.

I know for a fact that Deepdish uses rendered duck fat and 1/2 & 1/2, Craig Reed told me himself that he uses grape drink from 7-11.

In regard to the groupie aspect, there is one competitive eater who name i wont mention out of respect for his privacy. He claims that he gets hit on all the time by women which i find kind of hard to believe because he is anything but a matinee idol. I almost had to laugh because it sounded like something straight out of the movie”Guide for the married man” with Walter Matthau and Robert Morse. where every hot looking secretary that worked in the office was hitting on Walter. Good gosh give me a break. Only in the movies

Perhaps dying from competitive eating is not a bad way to check out. At least you are going out doing something you enjoy. Better than dying from worse stuff like cancer or heart disease.

There is no dignity in dying from bug eating. Down right stupidity and anyone that feels sorry for that fool is more of a fool. He did it to himself and he would still be here today if he didnt

If a person or in a worst case scenario a child has a health issue of some kind at all or worst yet would die when trying this stunt very likely Jell-O Pudding / Kraft Brands, MLE and the eaters endorsing this contest would facing a lawsuit.

The Pudding Prix is for 18+ only, so that standard has not been violated.

An adult is going to die eating a snack pack size cup of jello? Really, seriously?

  26. Flack said

    October 11, 2012 @ 3:14 pm

Oh and one more thing, APE, ILOCE sometimes doesn’t even have EMTs on hand at their eating contests where people are eating pounds of food. Sounds like somebody is a little jealous of MLE and scratching for any bogus issue to knock the top eating organization. I nominate Team Kobi nuts, ExMLE people that got kicked out of MLE, or crappy wannabe MLE members such as APE and ILOCE organizers who are so stupid they actually believe people are so stupid that they would buy this non issue of adults actually dying after eating a cup of Jello. Maybe it’s their belief that people are as naive as they are that ultimate only really shows that APE, ILOCE, disgruntled MLE rejects, and “Team Kobi” will never compete on any level with the MLE in any fashion or manner. Pretty transparent.

Agree fully with Flack. Seriously? OJ should have chosen something else if he wanted to take on MLE. What is it with this?

  28. Anonymous said

    October 11, 2012 @ 9:07 pm

yeah flack has a good point. I understand that MLE has a published “Safty Standard”, but that doesnt mean you attack them and disregard these other ‘leauges’ that have no safty standard at all, just because they make one exception. It seems there is alot of Health related news uprooting lately, so I think the focus should be on what needs to be fixed. As far as I’m concerned, the MLE is the top of the crop as far as being safe (events).

It is the weekend so Rhonda who is not interested in this topic anyway is gone. We could have had a whole day without the above names being written but apparently whoever wrote that could not live with that idea. But again, I am actually sincerely worried. Where is OJ and why are comments not being posted? Careful all, since no one knows who OJ is, there could easily come a day when eatfeats will disappear completely and then, apparently, some of us who already have no life according to some commenters would really have not even this place to come to.

This place is nothing to come to. It just happens to be here so people flock to it. Like everyone forgot the sopranos, they would forget this crap just as fast. All the controversy , bickering and hatred towards fellow eaters would not exist if it wasnt for this site

10:27 is completely full of baloney. It is the eaters themselves and fans and those who comment and outside of this site continue to make trouble who cause dissension, period. It has nothing to do with OJ who provides many excellent things. Just look at what he wrote above, even stupid hateful things are written by someone and they are not being censored. Censor yourself for a change, think about what you write and stop making ridiculous accusations. Seiken and some others try to cause trouble because they are not getting what they want or think they are entitled to so they keep putting their name here.
