Kobayashi receives Guinness record after eating 7 HDB in 3 min
Youtube has a clip of Kobayashi receiving a Guinness record after eating 7 hot dogs in 3 minutes. The record Kobayashi attempted to break was 4 hot dogs in 3 minutes and not 23 bunless hot dogs in 3:10 by Lynda Kuerth that was listed by Guinness before it stopped printing eating records in its books in the late 1980s.
R Suzuki has more about the program which says that Kobayashi had to eat sitting down using only one hand and had to show a clean mouth before proceeding to the next hot dog.

This Kynda Kuerth looks like a doctored picture .I believe it never happened happened , just some slick operator rewriting history, as for koby is that right 7 hd’s in 3 min sounds pretty weak, I ate 5 hdb’sin 50 sec documented on the Brooklyn Sunday news back page in 2001.

Koby can eat way faster than that! It’s possible the special stipulations account for the discrepancy. At Nathan’s Finals 2009 both Koby and Joey downed roughly 30 HDBs in the first three minutes, so we know what they’re capable of.

Well, close to 30. They did 10 the first minute, and I know they slowed down after that. But they did way more than 7 in 3!

His number does seem low. Maybe the empty mouth between dogs rule slowed him down. If anything, it gives average Joes like me something to shoot for, because it’s finally a CE record that seems halfway human.

I believe this was the record for most “mediocre performance by Kobayashi in history”…any, and I mean any, person in the IFOCE top 50, the AICE top 40, or 437, 836 people in the world can do 7 hot dogs in 3 minutes.
