Not so fast. If you register at noon sharp and you get a email several weeks later for standby then you know breaking news was correct

Anony 11:23 a.m. and Spider: Wow, that’s pretty impressive you guys can out eat top eaters that will most likely get selected for this event? Because, if you are a better eater those top-eaters, then why wouldnt the sponsor of this contest give you a spot? However, if you can’t out eat any of those competitors, why would a sponsor want you to attend their event? CE is designed to make money and publicity for sponsors, and the best eaters attract more publicity and money for sponsors. Want to go to more CE contests? Make the most of the opportunities that you do get, and eat better than those that are most often selected. For example, a guy like Monson is clearly emerging as someone in this category.

I am not even going to register. It’s a nice purse and I love celebrating St. Patty’s with an eating contest but it’s on a Wednesday. That’s two days of travel for me in the middle of the week all the way over here on the left coast. Breaking news is just gossip. Cynical gossip. Maybe Koby shows up for this one though since he is in NY now and the prize is right – there’s some gossip for ya.

Erik the red you are one true patriot unlike certain eaters that have no life and a job that allows them to take off whenever they please just so they could compete .

CE is a business i agree but then why fool everyone with registration procedure. You are clearly telling us that there is no real first come first serve basis with your comment .

To look at CE otherwise is a niave. As in any sport, the top athletes gets the best perks. Complaining about how it’s unfair only underscores the tremendous lack of understanding of how competitive sports work. Look, if you owned a business and had the choice of Peyton Manning or Jim Sorgi showing up to an event at your establishment, who would you choose? And, you know what, I don’t think Sorgi would have a problem with you opting for Manning. Nor do I think Sorgi would complain about your decision even though Sorgi called you back before Manning did. Complaining about this situation and how the world is isn’t constructive it’s whining.

There are seats that are alotted for some eaters for sure but there are open spots you can get by signing up fast and being known by the people in charge. Grown ass cry babies some times.

CE is a business do you realize how shallow you sound with those remarks? How does that make a mid or low ranked eater feel when he has little chance of getting picked for a spot in the contest. Ok fine they will pick the best eaters in the land for publicity which makes a tremendous amount of success but don’t try to con others with a registration format which is obviously not on the up and up. You keep reitorating its a business its a business. So if its a business hand pick your best eaters and stop trying to make it look legit with a registration process that give first priority to the top eaters regardless of what time they choose to register.

Why is everyone hating on Ben? Is it because he beat the #1 competitive eater in the world? Even if Joey was having a bad day,a win is a win. Ben DID what some people have not and will not ever do. No,disrespect to Joey. He is still #1.
