Congratulations to Sonya Thomas whose website experienced its second anniversary Monday. sonyatheblackwidow.com was launched on September 19, 2003, just about three months after Sonya’s first competition at the Nathan’s qualifier at the Molly Pitcher travel plaza in New Jersey.

I loved the concept of this page from the start, as I, too, appreciate women with healthy appetites. However, this page has degenerated into a general forum for all competetive eating, which is very male-dominated. There are several other competetive eating websites. Why don’t you keep this one focused on women? As a suggestion, the focus can be expanded from the world of competetive eating to other women who eat a lot. We all know women who eat a lot. Maybe pics and stories of them. There are many famous women with huge appetites. They may not be record breakers, but, I think its great to read that Charlize Theron ate a 28 ounce porterhouse steak during an interview, or Jenny McCarthy ate 2 Big Macs before an episode of Singled Out. Lets keep the focus on women and not competetive eating. Just a suggestion.

Since the sport is dominated by the male species its sort of hard to consider devoting this site to women. When i first launched my website i intended to devote it strictly to mid ranked eaters but it failed miserably and got very few hits so i abandoned the original plan and included everyone. So far it seems to have worked and i think this site is awesome! It has success written all over it.

If your goal is to get as many hits as possible, then I understand. If your goal is to provide a site for competitive eating, then fine. But I thought the stated purpose of the site was to cover the “gastronomic feats of females”. There are many women who eat a lot who have nothing to do with the sport of competitive eating. Its your site, and I still enjoy visiting, but I think you lost your focus.

    Marc,

I’m sure there are plenty of places for you to go, to satiate your chubby chaser fetish.

PS, the “chubby chaser fetish” comment, aside from being completely unnecessary, is also inconsistent with anything I said. I find the women on this site, and their gastronomic feats, very intruiging. None of these women seem heavy to me (Sonya Thomas, Kate Stelnick, etc.). Additionally, the two examples I gave as part of my friendly suggestion to include celebrity women were Charlize Theron and Jenny McCarthy. I don’t think either of these women would be considered “chubby” either.
