Rhea Hughes comes across (at least to me) as a classic bitch. I’m not saying that’s bad. That’s just the way she is; she’s good at it.

Given the totals the last two years, it appears that either the judging is less strict (in getting credit for eating wings) or the wings are faster.

WB continues to be a sham. How can an eater like G Jerry not make it to the second round. Weigh the wings please, and call it an actual eating contest.

For “A”nonymous: You can be spared by refraining from visiting/reading/posting on this thread—-just as you can change the channel on the tube if you don’t like the program. It is what it is.

For “a”nonymous: If you believe that, why are you responding? Get a life. Go wear a Krystal!

Both of you have one thing in common. You’re both suffering from role diffusion. If you need help in coming up with names, just ask. I’ve a few very appropriate ones in mind.

Calling Rick the manager – wha’ happen????

  14. Wing Bowler said

    January 30, 2009 @ 6:22 pm

Rick the Manager gave his best effort and is to be commended for it. He is A MANAGER and for one day lived his dream of being Rick the Eater. His entourge of pros seemed to have a good time too but where was Chestnut. A no-show perhaps? No surprise there.

As for the BS of big numbers this time, some eaters got the opportunity to speak with a few of the judges before the event. They admitted that there were some problems with how the counting went last year and did not like the fact that so many new judges were brought in by Pat Croce. Too many people trying to do the job was a recipe for disaster.

The wings were also kept hot close to the starting time of the event, instead of being laid out hours before for display only to become rock hard.

Squibb did a great job and looks to be a legit contender. He will get crushed next years, but he is still good. Damaging Doug did get screwed. They announced early that he was through his 4th plate, he was cleaning very well and was getting full credit for wings eaten, HOWEVER he still does not make the first cut when the lowest number was 79. Go figure. Doug does suck as well but he did put up a good number.

Wing Bowl will always have questions because the judging blows.

Also in the Rick the Manager Entourage: Humble Bob, Wing Kong and ‘Wolfson’. Rick ate 69 in a very good debut! Bertoletti and I got onstage during round 2 and ate some of the wings to find out they were STILL warm! The chef from PJ Whelihans did a great job preparing the food and keeping it hot and was looking for Pat’s professional critiuqe (as a chef and eater).

The warm wings helped with the higher totals (as well as some home grown loose judging) It also helped more guys eat to the DQ Point. Had Joey/Pat had this combination of warm wings and loose judging I cant even imagine what the totals might be.

Squib seemed to legitimately beat everyone however. The kid did a good job and seemed to be enjoying the benefits at the afterparties!

I agree with Steakbellie. Rick looked like a natural up there. We were all behind him. If the wings are exactly the same next year, numbers will be the highest ever.

The Exiled Entourage would not have been possible without Rick and we are grateful for the opportunity he gave us to get together for a fun 16 hour party.

Now if Angelo can only learn the difference between Pat Bertoletti and Jeff “the Natural” Olson. Once again he saw Jeff and his mohawk, referred to him as Phil Bertoletti at first and then proceeded to talk to him as if he were talking to Pat.

Hey man. No one knows who Bertoletti is. He’s neither the best eater, best male eater, nor best female eater. What do you expect man?

This is my first post ever on EatFeats. I want to thank Pat Bertoletti (I know who he is), Humble Bob, Badlands Booker, Crazy Legs Conti, Wing Kong, Steakbellie, and U.S. Male for taking time out of their busy schedules to come from many parts of the country to show their support in being in my entourage. These guys helped coach and train me for my CE debut. I have said all along in this road to Wing Bowl, “I am not an eater, I am a manager!” These guys had faith in me and backed me. Although most everyone thinks the Wing Bowl is a scam, or unfair, it is what it is. What it is, is the largest 1 day radio event in the world. There is also some eating going on there. This is Philadelphia’s Marti Gras. I have been to great eating contests all over the country. The Wing Bowl is a great event (not necessarily a great eating event). The hoop-la surrounding this is like nothing else anyone has ever seen (unless you’ve been in attendance). I am not defending Wing Bowl, it is however, the only “eating event” I have eaten in. In fact, it may be the only indoor eating event that anyone, including the pros have eaten at with approx 25,000 people in attendance. But I am getting off track. The pros in my entourage are the most approachable and humble people I know. I am proud to call them my friends. Proud enough to bring them into my community, introduce them to my family and friends, and hang out together for 16 straight hours in one of the biggest parties anyone can ever experience. Once again, I want to say THANK YOU to the above mentioned pros for making my first Wing Bowl as an eater my best CE experience to date. A special thank you to Badlands Booker for writing and performing my theme song “Rick The Manager” that can be heard at http://www.RickTheManager.com

I want to also thank the Hungry Sisters and EatFeats for the exposure I’ve received.

    RICK “THE MANAGER” RUSSO
Eat each meal like it’s your last!

The remarks made about Rhonda Evans are not very nice. You could have hurt his or her feelings and not even know it . If you stop and think she might be a real person.
