Only 12?

Me thinks the following
1) The top 5 or 6 won’t have to qualify this year
2) they add more qualifiers later
3) they have 1 or more wild cards
4) Nathan’s is cutting back and want to make it for the top of the class (kinda like Krystal’s)
5) a combo of 2 or more above
if it’s number 4, this would suck for guys in the mid to upper teens and lower 20’s who have a chance to make those final spots.

Nathans is boring. The same cheaters that leave pieces of hot dog debris in cups will try once again to fool the judges. Most of them reside in PA

The rankings should be updated immediately with Beautiful brian moved up at least 20 spots from an unheard of 49. What kind of bull is that? The man finishes 2 24 oz steaks 10 wings and creamed spinach in under 5 min and half those bozos ranked ahead of him never faced him once in competition. Who the hell is putting together those rankings? Obviously someone that is either a bad judge of talent or someone that doesnt know what the hell they are doing

Why not focus on the no dunk theme they are riding and will it be in effect for Nathans.

I have spoken to Mike A, who has informed me that dunking will still be a facet of the Nathan’s event this year. I also asked as to the nature of the determination of “dunking” or “no dunking” and was told that it is primarily a decision of the vendor of each event; if the vendor has no bias one way or another then the decision goes to the IFOCE/MLE.

Here’s a trivia question—- Where did Benjamin purchase his Thesaurus? Having spoken to him recently, it is evident that his course of language does not indeed stem from his arsenal of mental vocabulary.

Just because i curtail the word i choose to utilize in general public does not mean I lack them in my lexicon. Ergo I speak dumb to dumb people.

Ben, please don’t waste your time agruing with these morons. You can’t win. Just do your thing at the table and let that speak for itself. If you must post, do it anonymously. I do.

The jealousy-fueled anger being directed at Ben is hilarious… and a little sad. It’s like a bunch of catty junior high school girls who are pissed off because the new girl is suddenly popular.

I can’t remember if this blog was called EatFeats or EveryoneHatesBenMonson.
The comments to this Nathans post, as well as the Slurpee Contest post, are just over the top. I have a hard time believing that a new and talented eater – who has beaten Chestnut and deserves a spot in the IFOCE Top Ten – deserves all the crap flung his way, even if he does use big, smart words.
I read these posts over the past few days, and didn’t really think I could add much to the conversation. Others have speculated that the disparaging posters are jealous of Ben’s notoriety or success.
But I think it’s worth asking the critics directly: Why all the harsh words for Ben Monson?
Would you have said the same crap if any other guy came out of nowhere and started placing ahead of established talents?
Any guy who can eat a 20″ pizza with multiple toppings in 6 minutes is definitely no joke.

I am suprised Ben is getting all this negative heat. It almost sounds like another sonya thomas lynching only sonya never responds where Ben does. It seems that eaters who keeps their body in tip top shape like Ben & Juris always gets the brunt of the stick

Not trying to cause trouble only a serious post. I am very excited that nathans is starting so soon. Being my first season, I perceive this to be a monumentous event. Seeing the development of the contestant roster as each qualifier is completed will only mount the my level of anticipation. Yes I am aware of the fact that no one “gives a shit” about how I feel or my ambitions. I am simply stating that I am proud to have the opportunity to be a part of the event, that was a major catalyst for the development of competitive eating in the US.

The competition will be incredibly fierce with only a dozen qualifiers! Unless established talents receive a bye, we could see big numbers out of the qualifiers alone.

It will interesting for sure this year. Seems like it might take 25-30 on the low end to win. Come on Ben be honest you know you have practiced what would you say is your two minute time? I understand if did not want to throw it out there because some might be dicks about it but I love to know.

I have not metered quantity to time yet, although a few eaters have told me that they do. I have done a few practice runs already and hit over 50 in 10 minutes. I don’t want to post exact numbers because of reasons stated by others. Also to the same note, I have not used Nathan’s hot dogs. I do not know how that will affect my speed or total, but will be doing so soon. I am not sure anyone is “running scared”, but I do know that I am going to push myself to do very well. As for Crystals, again there is no way of being so sure. In my mind I do not believe I would have won by any measure. Although I prefer no dunking because I use very little fluid when I eat.
OJ, Is it at all possible for you to post who attended which qualifiers last year?
