New poll: most desired IFOCE change
In his latest blog entry, Wing Tut predicts that some ranked IFOCE members will leave IFOCE because the loss of GoldenPalace’s sponsorship will decrease the amount winnable by eaters ranked outside the top 10.
The new poll asks if you think the standard prize distribution for IFOCE contests should be changed to award more to lower finishers to prevent this possibility or is there another change (if any) you would more like to see.

I’d say I pose the question, rather than predict.

OJ,
I think a good addition to the poll would be for the IFOCE to count/weigh ALL of the competitors results for every contest rather than just those who appear to be the winners.

Steakbellie I agree. I’d like to see that.
Wing Tut may have a point, but I can tell you that the loss of .net is a mere sneeze on the journey to much greater purses from other state-side casinos, food companies, etc, etc. A good portion of the revenues lost by .net will be funneled into AC or LV Casinos, who are already preponderant sponsors of CE.

I second Steakbellie’s idea.
Only weighing SOME of the results and reporting SOME of the results would be like baseball only recording the hits of the best players and ignoring the guy who just got called up from the minors.

“report contests results fully” was intended to include calculating & announcing results for all entrants. I have changed the choice to make that clearer.

I say take the totals, multiply by age, add gray hairs, add for facepaint, subtract for lack of showmanship, divide by number of competitors in each contest, add the temperature, subtract the wind speed, give 5 points extra credit for each contest entered, factor in degree of difficulty for type of food eaten, minus number of letters in state eater is from, add numbers of characters in competitors self-imposed nickname…..Using this formula should simplify things nicely. Oh, and add extra credit for number of states eater has lived in….sorry, forgot that last one

This might be a bit off topic but somewhat related and i expect a rebuttal to this comment like “Brian dont go there” . I recently did an episode of BB corner where my uncle vito spoke about cheapskates in a skit entitled “splitting the check” . I have dined out with many IFOCE members and never once have any of them offered to pick up the tab. Now mind you i am prob gulity of the same thing for i have never offered to cover everyone’s tab.If the tab is lets say 100 bucks or more noone would expect one person to cover that amt. But if its like 30 or 40 bucks and one person takes the check that shows character and class in that individual. I would never mention names because it would more than likely result in either having my ass handed to me or getting chewed out if we met up at a future contest There are exceptions. One unnamed eater is a very big sport and i could see him picking up the tab for a group of us at a restaurant if the bill is within a reasonable range. There is also one unnamed eater that will try not only to worm his way out of splitting the check but not pay at all PERIOD! Without mentioning his name i think some on this message board know exactly who i am referring to. OJ label the next topic COMPETITIVE EATING CHEAPSKATES!

Brian that was a very idiotic post. I know your tv show and website is whacked out to begin with, but to set people up by attempting to bring out the cheapskates in the IFOCE is downright low. I think you are disgrace to humanity and you should be banned from the internet

Steak they have made minor modifications on the weighing process but it has accomplished very little as far as im concerned. The plates that appear to be in the money get first preference which is the way its supposed to be but afterwards its like if anyone else wants their trays weighed bring it to the scale and you can weigh it yourself or if you get lucky the person assigned to weighing might still be there to weigh it for you. You get the feeling that everyone that is out of the money are the little munchkins and their final result tally is insignifigant. If they want to really make people happy so everyone walks out of a contest feeling they had a great time, start at the end of the table weigh each and every plate(even if an eater ate 1/16 of a lb ) announce each eater the total consumed and the total left and thats that. Anyone that disputes what i just wrote with something like “Well you know the sheas have no time for stuff like that and its the eaters that finish in the money that count” . You know what ? You are an IFOCE ass kisser and a selfish one to boot!
