320 ounce steak at $8.75 / oz.
Slashfood has a list of the world’s most expensive steaks. Mosts of the items are normal sized, but the most expensive steak is 20 pounds and costs $2,800. It is not stated if the steak is free for a diner who can finish it in a specified period of time.

The wagyu beef you would be buying in New York is NOT the same Kobe beef you would be buying in Japan. The article’s first line is misleading; Wagyu and Kobe both come from the same breed of cattle, but true Kobe is fed beer mash and massaged by specially trained masseurs in Japan. If I remember correctly, they also aren’t allowed to move that much, which is why the beef is so tender. True Kobe beef is not available for import into the U.S., but the cattle breed has been brought here and has been raised successfully. SO, most times you see “American” Kobe, which is the same breed, but not the same, because it is not raised the same way. Outside the U.S., you would probably be buying true Kobe beef. Might want to keep it in mind when you are plunking down your money.
