71 year old Peter Dowdeswell, probably Britain's most famous competitive eater, announced his retirement after suffering injuries while trying to drink a pint of beer upside down. (A video of a successful upside down drinking attempt by Dowdeswell, who claims he holds 339 world records)

This guy is an absolute beast. ABSOLUTE BEAST. Used to love reading his records in the Guinness book.

Yeah, he did pretty amazing stunts. He did have an innate natural talent for this, a la kobayashi/monson. However, i thought he had retired already (i watched him himself say it on a youtube video i think, or maybe i read it on his own website). My bet is he may have come back to speed eating later on.

He holds that many records, true, however “only 100” or so are guinness records. The rest are records certified by a record company he is affiliated with. You can check this on his webpage.

    Best of lucks to him.
