these stunts have no bearing on how they will do in the contest. They should just see how fast they could down 200 wings in a scheduled amt of time . Whoopie pies, pizza pies , has nothing to with the chicken wings Stupid if you ask me

I think that it is fun, more interesting and creative when people have to think of a challenge, do it in the studio etc. Just doing wings would be boring, and we already know that Wingbowl is a contest with somewhat different “rules” than most contests. It is the spectacle of the whole thing which makes Wingbowl what it is. M and M’s, bacon bits, whatever someone can think of and get approved makes the challenges worth following, imo.

I would have to agree no sense. Even though its still early in the qualifying stage. Snack Jack stunt was nothing special. He must of caught the morning crew on a slow day to get that stunt in. The stunts should be something of quantity in a fast amount of time. Angelo said it best “Snack Jack found another way of Scamming his way in”

angelo has ways of getting back at them for lame stunts. Sometimes he puts them at a kiddie table or the judge doesent even bother counting their wings in the first round

You guys do realize that your Wing Bowl eating challenges are nothing more than air time filler so Angelo can promote sales of tickets to this sham of a contest? It doesn’t matter what you guys do. You guys aren’t the story. At the contest you’re all just backdrops. You might as well send in cardboard cut outs of yourselves eating wings. The outcome was decided months ago. If Kobi participates he beats Squibb in a stunning round of overtimes. Then next year, Squibb struggles to comback with a stunning overtime win over Kobi. You guys might as well be debating how a rerun of “I Love Lucy” show is going to end. The show’s been aired before and script has already been written. Reporters all know it’s fixed, the only people who don’t are the drunks, racists and strippers that pay to get into this embarrassing debacle to Philly.

So does that mean a legend like US Male is practicing his ass off for nothing or he is hoping that Angelo will fix it so this year its finally his turn?

  11. Wake up said

    December 6, 2011 @ 3:30 pm

Anony 2:45 — If Angelo’s going to pay anything to get Kobi to come in terms of fees and comps, believe me Kobi will win this year regardless of who eats more wings. But frankly, there is no one of there with the ability to beat him in this field without MLE. Angelo’s judges will just throw out a few of Kobi’s plates to make it look close and not reveal too much just how much they’ve been favoring Squibb over the last several years with a crushing defeat. Sorry, Male but I don’t see it in the cards for you unless he can guarantee the national media exposure Kobi would bring. The bottow line is who ever will get Angelo and the radio station more press and attention wins — this year that would be Kobi.

No offense taken Wake Up, you are 100% correct with everything you said. Wing Bowl is just a fun time and a day out of work to eat, drink and visit the strippers.

Koby probably will win, but it is no guarantee. We can conjecture back and forth until WB is finished, but that won’t change the outcome.

I definitely do not believe WB is scripted, at least not to the point to where a winner is predetermined. What I do believe is that judging is not the same for all competitors or by all judges; it is very inconsistent; much like corn on the cob contests are. What’s a clean wing or ear of corn to one judge is not cleaned well enough in another judge’s viewpoint.

Hence, the judges didn’t “let” Joey win each year he participated. He won of his own accord.

Having said that, I think there probably is bias toward or against an eater sometimes, such as when Wingador was proclaimed the winner over Sonya in OT in her second WB, and when Badlands got DQ’ed at thet same event for urges contrary to swallowing. (Badlands hasn’t reversed in his life.)

With all the debris thrown at Sonya at that WB, the organizers probably believed they’d have a riot on their hands (which would have gotten out of hand) had Sonya been proclaimed the winner. But, again, that’s only my opinion.

That way you can make your self feel like a big, man. I only do wingbowl for the entourage prize which I have won the past 2 years. I know WB is a sham unless your a bigger well known name.

I think Koby will not win since he doesn’t normally do
bone in items. They don’t fit his eating style well.
I’ll look to better my 6th place finish in 2010
the wingbowl was more of a bucket list thing, since i’ve
    taken competitive eating more seriously.

I think all major league eaters that attend wingbowl as spectators should be thrown out of the organization or get hit with a lengthy suspension.

  17. Wake Up said

Snack Jack — Until you go up against a top tiered eater you have no idea what your facing here. Just talk to Bickel v. Bertoletti, Furious v. Kobi, Sonya v. any first time eater who thinks that tiny girl can’t possibly really eat that much. And, Kobi is even more elusive because he makes it look so easy. With all the top pros, your looking down the table and suddenly you’re down by several pounds. Besides, despite Rhonda’s opinion, which I very much respect, I still feel the fix is in and if Kobi’s there he will win. Bones or no bones, Kobi is a force and a professional and he’ll have is wing technique down before eats at any table competitively. Angelo will make it close, he needs to maintain that Squibb’s wins these past several years weren’t fixed when in fact they were (Once again just ask Furious). Besides Angelo will want an overtime for the suspense factor. Best of luck in besting your sixth place. I mean that sincerely and it’s really only the top two eaters in this field that Angelo’s people would take the time fix so a third, fourth or fifth is viable. One more thing, U.S. Male great attitude particularly for this event. I think many people go into WB thinking they actually have a shot not understanding that it’s fixed and they’re disappointed when they find it is. Just have fun.

Acting Commissioner — I think a suspension or being thrown is a bit draconian regarding MLEers that attend WB. Besides they’d be throwing out babies with the bathwater and just hurting themselves if they threw out top MLE eaters for attending events on their own time and money. But, I do think they’ll get a phone call from the Sheas asking them to get with the program and why are they lending their names and reps to such a joke of event in terms of credibility. At least if you do go there keep a low profile and stay away from the media. Lower ranked eaters should be wary of lending the MLE brand to WB. But they can’t throw out a top five.

Oh please, what a bunch of idiocy. Wing Bowl is a spectacle, just like US Male said, he goes for the fun or someone goes to compete in the float category. So Angelo does this or that, so the stunts are whatever, it is great that eaters from different organizations and independents get to hang out some or see each other, there are many reasons they go to WB. It may be the only thing MLE eaters do comfortably without stepping outside the bounds of their contracts. IMO. Just go and have fun unless you are Kobi or Joey or whoever, everyone has an idea of how it works or doesn’t work. You know before you begin what to expect.

  22. Rhonda Evans said (Registered March 6, 2008)

I have to agree. What’s the harm in attending an extra-IFOCE event that’s so large it’s easy to get lost in? Presence at WB is hardly an endorsement of it.

Apart from that, what’s wrong with having fun associating with non-MLE eaters once a year? And that’s all WB is about—-fun! It’s hardly a professional eating event.

You could almost reason that not allowing MLE eaters to attend the fun-filled extravaganza is like saying it IS a recognized CE event.

  23. anonymous said

    December 7, 2011 @ 2:20 pm

Oh but there is harm in it Rhonda. The Sheas are not sanctioning this event. Its like sneaking out behind daddy back when he set certain guidelines about the event. The Sheas should add this to the contract agreement. So it shall be written so it shalll be done

  28. anonymous said

    December 8, 2011 @ 12:00 pm

If you are a high profile eater in the IFOCE attending Wingbowl, you are essentially looking for media attention . As Wake up stated earlier, they are lending their names to a joke of an event. Hmm is wrong when he looks at it from a having fun vantage point. Any major event that the Sheas and the sponsor could not agree on a $$ figure, should be avoided by the ranked members of MLE at all costs. You are essentially showing support for an event that MLE did not profit from. That is total disrespect to your organization especially if you are a high ranked eater thats been taken care of by MLE.

  29. Wake Up said

    December 8, 2011 @ 2:06 pm

Just to chime again in on MLE eaters showing up at WB. No don’t ban the eaters from attending. It’s not worth it. A talking to from MLE to any potential MLE eater that might attend should be all that is needed. Remind those possible MLE attendees that this is a sham of event and do you really want to potentially lend your name, even tacitly, of approval to what goes on at WB. So, if you go, keep a low profile. Because whether you like it or not your public behavior does have ramifications to your image and MLEs. Understand that MLE will not be happy if your name becomes part of any news story related to this debacle. That’s when you might find invitations to events become fewer and fewer. And, keeping a low profile will be hard. Believe me, if any top MLE eater is spotted by Angelo he will try to take advantage of it for his own benefit and use that eater’s name to gain respectability to his event that even most locals recognize lacks any respectability. A top MLE eater worked hard to become one of the faces of MLE and competitive eating. Would a top MLE really want to ruin that image for one morning of stripers, drunks, porn stars, racists, oh look isn’t that (insert MLE eaters name here)? So, from a MLE eater’s perspective, really, is it worth it?

  31. Wake Up said

Anony 3:58 — Fine go to Wing Bowl and/or bring along your favorite pet MLE eater. Sorry I hit a nerve with the facts. Wing Bowl is a drunken, racist, fixed, pornographic, debacle now. Far from any legit competitive eating event. But if that’s fun for you, go and party on. You have no arguments as to the disgraceful nature of WB because you obviously know it’s true and are most likely one of those people that intends to exploit MLE eaters for your own benefit of being close to MLE eaters as the recognized best eaters in the world (jock sniffer I believe is the correct term) or an MLE eater that plans on getting exploited. Go for it. You clearly don’t know much, or you would know that the Sheas do care if their eaters and organization are exploited which are likely scenarios of MLE eaters go to the Wing Bowl. Not only for the reputation of the eater, but for the organization itself and competitive eating as whole in terms of gaining mainstream socail acceptance (such as MLE has achieved with Nathan’s on July 4). So go and celebrate the crap fest that is the Wing Bowl. You know, I guess I do have a beef. Wing Bowl hurts the legitimacy of competitive eating. To me and many of the people that post here thinks that sucks and it’s sad some MLE eaters don’t see that.

The i.f.o.c.e. must not only banish from m.l.e. all their eaters who attend wing bowl, One more thing is in order. Each top 50 eater should be strapped to a polygraph and if it is detected that they as much as thought about wing bowl at any time in the last two years then they should be disciplined. Discipline is the key to control and the i.f.o.c.e. must rule with an iron fist even if it means eliminationg every eater but one or two from their steel ranks.

i agree with 150 am that a polygraph test is in order if they even think about attending wingbowl. There are several big name IFOCE members that attend wingbowl every year not realizing they are disrespecting the Sheas to the highest degree. What is more disturbing is the fact that the Sheas have been good to them in more ways than you can imagine

  38. Rhonda Evans said (Registered March 6, 2008)

She did not get pelted to death at her first WB. As a matter of fact the fans who initially booed her when she went into OT with Cookie Jarvis cheered her in the end, according to what I read.

It was during her entrance in her second WB, in which she “lost” to El Wingador in OT when she got pelted with full bottles and cans of beer, used tampons, and such.

As I recall, I don’t think Sonya praised the fans too much that time.

Given everything I have read, I have changed my mind and opinion about MLE eaters attending Wingbowl. The most persuasive argument is from Wakeup at 5:33. MLE eaters participated in the past, that ship has sailed, they should not give legitimacy to the event. Just as was said, if MLE and Wingbowl could not come to an agreement, then partying at that party is not appropriate. This would be especially true this year if Kobayashi participates.

  40. seen it with my own eyes said

    December 9, 2011 @ 2:32 pm

Absolute not. No legitimacy should be given to the event but every year the #2 15 & 26th ranked eaters among others always manage to show up every year. If you show up this year you will look real bad because you are supporting someone that is not an IFOCE member but more like a renegade to the organization. He was warned to get off the stage at Coney Island but he refused. We fail to bring up the element of people that attend this event. Groups of individuals throwing up and masturbating in the back room. Yes i have seen it with my own eyes. Maybe the board of health should look into this matter.

I’m sticking to everything I originally said. I see nothing wrong with a few MLE eaters attending WB, just as I see nothing wrong with Koby, GJoe, Dale Boone, Eric Dahl, or anyone else watching the Nathan’s Finals live from Surf and Stillwell.

No one has convinced or will convince me otherwise.

  42. Hmm said (Registered November 12, 2009)

Well 2:32. you have put me back squarely with Rhonda. You obviously have issues with eaters in your own organization to be calling them out, as it were. Rhonda is completely on target, eaters should be able to hang out together at each other’s events. That is what I said before, especially if it is a kind of party. No one really considers Wingbowl the same as Nathans. WB may be all of the things you say but really, everyone already knows that, it is nothing new. The whole thing with Kobayashi being a renegade, well lots of those eaters seemed to be friends of his and probably still are. I hope that they are. Just because he left doesn’t mean they should shun him. That is ridiculous. I am sure that each eater makes a decision about WB and considers MLE in that decision. Yes, I am flexible and can be persuaded but seen it with my own eyes, you are not persuasive at all.

  43. anonymous said

    December 9, 2011 @ 7:10 pm

this is all so childish. As adults, the eaters are allowed to make their own decisions about who they hang out with and where they go. The only rule is that IFOCE eaters cannot participate. Once again several top 50 eaters will be there to enjoy the camraderie and a few cold beverages. On their own time they represent nobody because the Sheas don’t pay their everyday salaries.

  44. anonymous said

    December 9, 2011 @ 8:19 pm

710 you make a stong point but when they attend wingbowl its like sending a message to the Sheas that they want them to sanction the event.
