    Why of all people would they choose Bryan Beard?

    Seems like Crif dogs wants to be a legit contest. If so they really should do their homework when scouting eaters (as OJ put together a pretty nice list they could have refered to)… Although the article/poll did say the following eaters inquired about the contest. I’m not saying Bryan did it directly, maybe one of his friends who didn’t know all the rules MLE has asked on his behalf without him knowing… who knows

    Like the “Puppy Bowl” on Super Bowl Sunday. Animal Planet does televise the former, however. So, in a way, even it gets more exposure than will Crif Dogs.

    Bryan is at a MLE contest right now – so that speaks of his loyalty to them. Some of the other eaters posted on their page are also there without their knowing or consent. Bizarre… but oh well. It’s possible that his name was mentioned because he hasn’t been able to go to many contests lately and someone may have thought he left MLE. It doesn’t matter, he isn’t going to compete in anything outside of MLE.

    Why would Naader want to participate in such a sham? I always thought he cared about the credibility of competitive eating and his challenges? If he’s looking for a free trip to New York, do a contest or some challenge. But don’t be patsy for Kobayashi. I mean these jokers are even posting the names of eaters, even MLE eaters, without their permission to make it look like there’s interest in this thing by credible eaters. How pathetic is that?

    If you’re an eater trying to make the decision to go or not. Ask yourself this: If there truly was an eater with the same amount of talent as Kobayashi, do you think Kobayashi would let him attend? I think not. That’s one of the big reasons he left MLE, he knew he wasn’t top dog anymore and wasn’t going to get it back except in the indie world. So what does that make his merry band of kobi backdrops in this Kobi set up? Chumps set up to lose so Kobi make money and can claim credibility to the media which he didn’t have last year eating by himself on the rooftop. I like the caveat they are using regarding this poll for the last eating spot. The final decision will be made by their panel of experts — aka Kobayashi. Indies I now have greater respect for — Squibb, Pete, and any other eater that told Kobi to take a hike. They don’t need a free ego trip for Kobi to New York that bad. When are they going to announce the prize money or, in other words, the price of an eaters dignity? You indies need to think long term regarding your reputation. Instead of being an eater that killed such and such challenge or competition, you’ll be a footnote on Kobi’s wikipedia site. Go hit a home a run somewhere else on the Fourth of July, don’t be that lacky who pitched it to Kobi.

    So what happens if Crif Dogs ends up offering $30K as the prize purse?

    Do we even know why Pete declined? He does a lot of work for foreign countries through his youtube, maybe he had something already planned on that date…

    Nobody really knows yet. It does look as though Crif Dogs is trying to throw this thing together last minute and really doesn’t know the eaters very well, so they’re probably experiancing trial and error… A free trip to NY and hotel stay to eat hot dogs seems nice enough even if prize money isn’t offered. Heck even really good eaters in MLE do it for Nathan’s.

It’s not Joey or Sonya deciding who they want and who they don’t at “their table.” Oh, and I do expect the prize money to at least match Nathan’s. That’s why Crap Dog’s probably charging money for tickets to this festival of Kobi. But with all the bull crap they’ve been flinging around this thing — “this event is in no way an attempt to copy Nathan’s,” yeah right, that’s why we’re holding it on the Fourth of July in Brooklyn — maybe they’ll claim a prize pot with no intentions of paying it out or deduct it from the “other” eaters from the cost of their trip and hotel. These Crap Dog people seem to be sorry enough that they’ll try to pull something like that off. I’d cash your the check they wrote for your dignity before you head out of town. Oh, and I hope they have some talking points worked up for the “other” eaters when they get asked, didn’t you lose at Nathan’s badly, not qualify, or get kicked out of MLE, so isn’t this just you and Kobi holding some pathetic grudge match against Nathan’s and the people of Brooklyn?     ???..FYI, I left the MLE because I’ve been in the Nathan’s finals 5 times and I feel it was time to move on to more local contests/challenges. A lot of the MLE contests that I enjoyed move out of the area (corned beef, meatballs..) and i’ve been seeing more & more local contest that I wanted to enter. I never traveled too far for contests because of the cost and I don’t like leaving my pets…Nathan’s is a great contest and I think I had a good run but it became the reason I couldn’t do local contests & challenges that I saw here on eatfeats that I wanted to do ..well NOW I can!
