Ever notice that these college kids and dropouts, realizing they’re not smart enough or talented enough to make it in their selected field of study, try to copy established famous eaters in the hope someone might confuse them with the established famous eater to make easy money. Sonya Thomas is a perfect example of this. How many small asian women eaters have thought they could eat like “The Black Widow” just because of their look, and hope no one would notice they didn’t have the talent of Thomas? Grace Lee, Miki Sudo, I mean at least Juliet Lee had the guts to stick it out with the top eaters in the world in the MLE. Then there’s Jamie McDonald, who thought guys like Pete Czerwinski could eat against top MLE, but found that he and Pete couldn’t compete. McDonald lost to every top MLE eater, so now he’s going to try to copy Czerwinski doing primarily eating challenges, promote his bodybuilding angle, and eat against less than talented eaters in APE.

I agree G.I. Jim. Jamie is selling out trying to promote someone he is not.

Ever notice how hateful most of the comments are on this blog? Ever think about how jealous and ridiculous most of the comments are?

Maybe it’s just me.
But really, do these people who eat against (me, for example) or my next door neighbor, really turn out to be the “next great thing?” Hopefully, somebody will go to the Vegas qualifier and put on a little demonstration. I have to agree with G.I. Jim. These little guys and gals, no kidding, might want to learn first-hand just how tough professional eating really is.

Why do you all care? Who says that Jamie or Miki are trying to be anyone but themselves? Isn’t there room in this sport for all levels of competitors? Really, Jamie is a “sell out” because he is now doing eating challenges? Give me a break. And I think making almost $40,000 a year doing anything would put that person at a professional level.

Don’t try and understand it Honey Badger. Anytime someone does well for themself or wins something other than an MLE event, they are frauds, sell-outs, losers, etc. It’s a no-win situation.

I disagree . The independent eaters are looking to get headlines by distinguish themselves from the big names in MLE. If they are trying to impress the Sheas , its not working. They pay zero attention . In Miki case you are being unfair. She might have every intention of signing with MLE or Nathans but no contests in her area yet. This Naader guy well thats another story. Every other day its another eating challenge. I wonder how he has any time to teach his kids in school? Someone once mentioned that he eats healthy most of the time . When?

Jamie McDonald’s brother needs to label as negative and jealous anyone who exposes the truth about Jamie McDonald. To make cash, the McDonalds require small-minded Pavlovian idol worshipers and jock-sniffing dolts to buy their moronic promotion techniques. Yet, the McDonald’s “legend” claims will surely catch up to them and blow any credibility with the media. Yes, they can get away now with their crap of being the “best independent eater in the world” while dealing with the Norwich Sun. But, false spin doesn’t last and smart people will find that Jamie has never actually beaten anyone, including losing to the real top independent, Kobayashi. And Honey, if making cash is a measurement of greatness as the McDonalds spun you to believe, how much do you see Jamie making the rest of the year? I do have to say though, U.S. Male is credible at finding frauds, sell-outs and losers, having made a career at perfecting all those traits.
