Michael Sarian won the Glen Macnow Eat-off with 16 2-inch sections of The Godfather and Wild Thing hoagies. There were two 7 minute rounds; the top four eaters from the first round advanced to the second round. There was a three-way tie for third with 8 sections each between Bill Dozer, Lou Conti, and myself after the first round, so five of us made it to the final round. You had to alternate between the sections – one Godfather, one Wild Thing, etc. This caused two of the eaters problems, as the Wild Thing was loaded with pickled jalapeno slices. Anybody familiar with the size of restaurant size hotel pans – 4 sections of the subs stretched across the short dimension of the pan (12 inches), so the pieces were closer to 3 inches. The results at the end (sorry to the eaters who didn’t make it to the second round, I didn’t get your names or results – please update if you happen to read this):
1.) Michael Sarian – 16 hoagie sections
2.) William Myers – 14 hoagie sections
3.) Bill Dozer – 11 hoagie sections
3.) Lou Conti – 11 hoagie sections
5.) Frank ‘Defraud” Farell – DQ’d during second round
Congratulations to Mike!
