The blog for Mother Jones magazine has an article titled “What Americans Will Do for Money” that begins with a section about Rich LeFevre based on information from the eatfeats database. Another section is about the water drinking contest sponsored by a Sacramento radio station which resulted in the death of one of the competitors.

    All the more reason he is my idol…I can only hope to be in this sport as long as he has and strive to do a quarter of what he has done and still does. Keep it up; you are a great example of what an successful, gracious and humble eater, should be.

    What Rich does and continues to do is so amazing, and he is still improving! I think his totals in hot dogs have gone up each year he has competed, which is since 2002, I do believe. And Rich is a little guy, which makes what he does even more amazing. That’s why Koby, Sonya, Rich, Tim, Juliet, and Elizabeth are my very favorite eaters.

    Yes, TIM, I said … not Helen that slutty, Phyllis Diller-lookin’ field hockey player. 🙂

    I competed against Rich in Vegas and saw his ability in person. He is a great eater.

    The American girls are up there to but have a ways to go beyond just being the best eaters in their families. If they both retire now they will go out without embarrassment.

    The only Eater I know that can Eat Two 72 Ounce Steaks in less than an Hour ans still put away 20 scoops of Ice Cream for Desert.
