Tim Janus promotes MLE video game
Ripten reports that Mastiff Games held a promotional event for video game journalists in which Tim “Eater X” Janus ate 141 pieces of avocado sushi. The blog entry contains some additional details about game play:
To keep your gastrointestinal tract clear, you have to hold the A button and wiggle the Wiimote, which makes your character wiggle around to pack in the food. This is actually a real tactic that we saw employed by Eater X.
Depending on which food you are gorging on in the game, you will use different types of controls. I took part in a virtual jalapeno eating contest, where you “flipped” the remote to toss ‘em in your mouth. In the watermelon eating competition, you have to move the remote from side to side. Pressing the B button will chomp your teeth, but if you press it at the wrong time, you’ll bite your tongue instead.
As weird and disgusting as all of this sounds, this actually plays like a good party game.
IGN reports that the game could be played at the Nintendo Media Summit, but journalists cannot report details of the game until Tuesday.
update crave.cnet.com has a blog entry with a gallery and video of Janus’ exhibition.

141 pieces of sushi god bless him. The boy never eats and it breaks my heart to see him waste away into nothing waiting for an IFOCE contest or some sponsored media event to feed him. I can sleep well now that i heard this news.

Any ifoce member who image was not included in the mastiff game shouldnt bother paying any attention to this garbage. How dare they leave out certain people and include others. The classic excuse will certainly sound like “We cannnot include everyone”. BULLSHIT! They pick and choose like choosing up a softball or football game. I like this one but i dont like that one. Do you realize how you can hurt one’s self esteem by not including them in something like this. Fuck em !

I’m not in it, but you can bet your ass I’m gonna buy it and be ranked #1 the World for it. I long for the chance to kick Bertoletti’s butt using his actual character. We’ll play for Space Docking rights.
The idea that “We’re all Winners” is really naive. Life is full of losing. Lots of it. Really.
I’m REALLY happy for these guys. I wish others were in it, I wish I was in it. I’m not. They made the Game they did, with the resources they had.

I may have my issues with “The Powers That Be”, but i’m always happy for my fellow competitive eaters that get opportunites like this.
