    An eater could not have won any money in a respective year and be considered a professional. John Oink Oink might not have won anything this year but he might be a pro. It really goes by ability and reputation. If you can eat a large pizza in under 3 minutes than you’re a pro.

    I don’t think anyone should be considered a pro unless they join a league MLE or ALL PRO.. Then again you have seiken and he’s MLE and he can’t eat for shit so maybe not lol!

    Per Merriam Webster, a professional is defined as ” … (of a person) engaged in a specified activity as one’s main paid occupation rather than as a pastime.”

    As such, in that context, I see only four CE professionals in 2014 —- Joey, Matt, Molly, and Kobi, and I’m probably stretching it at that.

    It’s a hobby or pastime for everyone else.

    Rhonda you are correct a PRO is someone that makes money or draws a big income in his or her craft. Many of the IFOCE ranked members are PRO nothing . Good portion of them never made a dime and their only real claim to fame is out eating their friends or family members. Some of the retired eaters who were never eaters to begin and really never accomplished much in their lives anyway fall into that category The term “RETIRED” should only apply to an individual that has put in a certain amount of years in service and is drawing a monetary pension along with it. To classify a major league eater as “RETIRED” when he parts way with an organization is what i consider a joke phrase and nothing more

    I was once kicked out of a pancake contest because they said I was a pro, even though I have never won a dime. Most likely another contestant(Menchetti) sabotauged me out of fear.
