New Poll: Wing Bowl 17 eligiblity
The new poll asks who you think will be eligible for the upcoming Wing Bowl. When Angelo Cataldi last mentioned the Wing Bowl on his blog in March, he said he hoped to prohibit entry to competitors associated with professional eating organization.

I would do it just to attempt a stunt that aice members had problems with . Like menchetti’s 10 big macs in 20 min or chapmans lame attempt at 24 dunkin doughnuts in 8 min

OK, my last post of the day: I would like to see WB keep the same format, excluding the previous year’s winner. Keep Chestnut out this year, but let him compete the following year, for example, and let all other qualifiers compete—-regardless of affiliation.
I think it would be great if WB was the one contest in the entire world with the distinction of being open to all eaters, regardless of affiliation—-the one contest where locals, independents (and AICE), and IFOCE all eat together.
They could pay 10 places: make it out of Round 1 and be assured of finishing in the money. This would ensure that several local eaters make the prize pool. You could also have a top local, a top independent, a top IFOCE, and the overall winner.

Since the Wingbowl is pretty much set up and poorly judged any self respecting professional eater should steer clear anyway.

I would like to see wingbowl back the way it was. There should be a qualifier in each area of Philly and surrounding suburb, and all the winners compete at Wingbowl. No more stunts. They should get this going in each major city, same format, and then have all the winners compete against each other for the grand prize.

Pete, you can get in if you fly/drive from wherever you are. They now allow listeners from outside the listening area, be careful what you wish for, I hear it may not be completely on the up and up.

Seems, there are no pros in Wing Bowl this year…I called this morning to get in and they said I could NOT because I was a Pro…I politely reminded them that to call me a pro is a very loose interpretation of the term, but they seemed very Firm with the answer and hung up…

The only pro eaters are the ones that qualified for Nathans and Krystals finals. Everyone else is not considered a pro and should be able to compete or attempt to qualify for wingbowl

The judging may be a bit off kilter (to say it as nice a possible)…But you would be hard pressed to find a contest that is more fun than that one…I hope they change their minds

Ha ha that means poor US Male won’t be able to compete in wingbowl. He lives for this contest. Maybe he can convince them that he is not a pro eater

Oh well anonymous, shit happens but thanks for your concern. Guess poor ole me won’t be able to compete. As Wing Kong said, it is the most fun event to participate in because of the sideshows and the after party. I accept any decision made by the station but I don’t think it’s over yet. We’ll see how legal it is to keep us out. Either way, I will be there as a spectator, enjoying a 6am beer.
