Coney Island CE Hall of Fame Proposed

(From NoLandGrab) A competitive eating hall of fame is one of three suggestions offered by the Atlantic Yards Report to the Imagine Coney initiative. The hall of fame would include a restaurant that would offer an eating challenge.

Some of the names considered should be Beautiful brian, Stinky Miernicki, Brian Subich, US Male, Phil Lipper , and of course the legendary Don Moses Lerman. Those names are legends

I can picture a large replica statue of donmoseslerman with the beard holding the tablets from 2001 in front of the hall of fame entrance. It would bring tears to my eyes if this day will ever come to be. As you make your way into the museum, a replica figure of hayboy Dale Boone glaring at you with that evil pout , cowbell in one hand and fist on table with the other. Wax like mechanical figures of Krachie & Crazy Legs dunking hot dogs with water splashing around them would be a treat for youngsters of all ages . . So it shall be written so it shall be done

The Coney Island Hall of Fame suggestion is the most sensible choice. (That street hoops idea should have died as soon as it was thought of. It’s stupid!) Erecting a HOF would be a wonderful thing to do for the “sport” itself, by honoring the best of the best who made impacts throughout their careers. They certainly deserve it!!

As such, I think the criteria to place someone in the Hall should be rather strict. Otherwise, it won’t mean a damned thing to those that really stand out —- it would cheapen the recognition.

An eater shouldn’t be celebrated as a great, simply by long-time association. It’s performance throughout one’s career that should count.

A victory on the 4th of July should be the only ticket into the HOF. It is the only unbiased way to allow people in.
