Dan Gross has a column about several Wing Bowl 17 competitors. “Damaging” Doug Canavin says that he thinks that 150 wings will win the contest, but his goal is 175 wings. Canavin qualified for Wing Bowl 17 by eating 5 sliders in 5 minutes. The column hints that Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick, whose previous brush with competitive eating involved being in a prank trade for ‘Kobayashi”, could be part of Damaging Doug’s entourage.

I don’t see 2002 in which I ate more than 150 ( 3rdplace) or my 2003 32nd place , it seems that you want to Delermanize the record from the record of achievements

The winner in 2002, Bill Simmons, ate 143 wings

Didn’t Damaging Dug compete in 2001 at a Nathans Qualifier in Philly? shouldn that exclude him from the wing bowl this year?

That is absolutely correct! Doug did compete in an IFOCE sanctioned event (Nathans)which technically should make him not eligible for Wing Bowl by its rules.

damaging doug is an awful eater… he’s not going to win anything so nobody cares that he eats. he’s just a wip personality…
